Buy! Buy! Buy! Kill! Kill! Kill! Take! Take! Take! Nothing bad will come of this! Nothing bad will come of this! Nothing bad will come of this!

[–] Sprocketfree@sh.itjust.works 12 points 10 hours ago

Sure... I mean this already is happening. Let's all try to act like super pacts have been completely independent all this time. Maybe two justices will have a stroke and flip citizens United.

Money is speech.

So shut the fuck up, peasants, and let the people with money talk.

If money is speech for the rich then violence should be speech for the poor.

Mama Parsons said it best

[–] Azal@pawb.social 2 points 4 hours ago

It is.

Why do you think they're trying to make one legal and the other not?

[–] meeeeetch@lemmy.world 28 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Bribery is just argument by other means.

Clarence Thomas's concurrence on the case they take after this one.

[–] TranscendentalEmpire@lemmy.today 14 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Man, I really thought the court would get slightly less insane and evil when Scalia died, but Thomas has just gotten wild with it. It's like scalia's ghost just left its body and decided to double bunk inside of Clarence.

[–] peregrin5@piefed.social 8 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 15 hours ago) (3 children)

What if Scalia was the one holding Thomas back and Clarence was the one who shot Scalia with the ice bullet containing the heart attack serum that killed him?

[–] TranscendentalEmpire@lemmy.today 3 points 12 hours ago

Scalia was the one holding Thomas back

That's a scary thought.....though judging by how disgusting Scalia was I think Thomas may just be doing all this in solidarity. Something a kin to pouring one out for the homies, but for the world's worst people.

[–] SnotFlickerman@lemmy.blahaj.zone 5 points 15 hours ago* (last edited 12 hours ago)

Scalia died in a much more conventional way, in my mind, fucking a hooker at his friends "ranch."

[–] RagingSnarkasm@lemmy.world 2 points 12 hours ago

Jesus, it's like you were in the room when it happened...

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 47 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

Dark money is already unlimited, so how much more fucked would this actually make us, in practice.

[–] Asafum@feddit.nl 25 points 14 hours ago* (last edited 14 hours ago) (1 children)

The "problem" they're trying to "correct" by the use of the word coordinate, is that in order for the unlimited money super pacs to be legal, they must not coordinate with the campaigns of those they support.

Now they want to have full control over the unlimited money instead of jumping through hoops to hide their control.

Billionaires are just straight up buying the country.

It's absolutely time for another tea party, we don't have representation, the ownership class has representation. They don't pay taxes, but we do.

[–] Reverendender@sh.itjust.works 12 points 14 hours ago

Put me in, coach

[–] henfredemars@infosec.pub 19 points 15 hours ago

It’s just easier to be openly corrupt in this brave new country.

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 11 points 12 hours ago (2 children)

Billionaires really are working hard to buy this shit hole country aren't they?

[–] Ghyste@sh.itjust.works 4 points 8 hours ago

It's the logical next step. You own everything you could possibly want, why not buy a country?

[–] Lemminary@lemmy.world 3 points 10 hours ago

It's the only plan they have.

[–] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 1 points 7 hours ago

Finally, a break for the little guy.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 9 points 14 hours ago

Well, there goes the check on power.

[–] DarkFuture@lemmy.world 8 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

I'm sure this Supreme Court will take all sides of the argument into consideration, make an informed and responsible decision, and relay the reasons for their decision to the Americans whom they serve.

Right?
