What are the chances we'll have an actual election in 2028? 50/50 seems optimistic.

Welcome to the News community!
Rules:
1. Be civil

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.
Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.
0% considering how many Dems have been coordinating with Trump & Co to get his agenda passed. Even if Republicans 'lose' this time it's all just a big scripted fantasy like Wrestlemania. We'll still all lose either way as long as these two private organizations call all the shots.
Which problem are we talking about?
Trump? Yeah...
The "Democratic" Party hasn't had a real Primary for POTUS since 2008, maybe earlier.
2012? Obama was still in.
2016? "Superdelegates" were just party insiders explicitly allowed to put their thumb on the scale in the name of party loyalty. They used this to favor Hillary Clinton, a Goldwater-Girl who addressed the Senate in the mid 1990s and push for gun control by calling Black Children in Chicago "super-predators".
2020? That primary was operation unite-against-the-popular-candidate.
2024? No Primary. Joe Biden would go on to have cancer, Kamala had a joke of a campaign, and both of those candidates cosigned a deeply unpopular genocide so hard that it was bipartisan.
We saw astroturfed "no kings" protests come and go.
Now, with Mamdani looming large over the political scene, I see Democrats rushing to pretend their party name isn't just as ironic as another Conservative bill.
They will teach an entire Generation of their prospective political base that electoral political change is impossible.
We'll have an "election". The results will not be democratic.
It kinda depends on when Trump dies. I doubt any fascists succeeding him can hold onto the support of both oligarchs and grassroots. Even
In my view, even voicing genuine doubt about the validity of elections undermines the very democratic institutions people claim to care about. It feeds into the same narrative that Trump and others have pushed, casting suspicion on the process and eroding public trust. Whether intentional or not, it ends up doing their work for them.
Between this and the press egging him on, it's like everything is a self-fulfilling prophecy.
It's like if reporters kept asking "are you gonna punch that baby?" It may have not been a consideration before, but it's definitely one now.
Christ, it's 2025. I should fucking hope that none of this fucking matters for the 2028 primary.
It really doesn't have any correlation to 2028. If anything it just shows the current mood of the electorate. Probably more informative if there were multiple surveys to compare movement against.
🤣...Buttigieg...🤣. A Keynesian neo-liberal who as mayor, did nothing and the people there hate him. During the East Palestine Ohio train gas fiasco, it took him 7 days to even show up...and he did nothing for them. That was HIS job! Another neo-liberal failure. The democratic party needs a corporate/oligarch controlled candidate purge, STAT!

not a fan of how high newsom is
It's largely a measure of name recognition.
Holy crap, zero percent?? There was some iffy "not enough black support" conversations going on during 2020 that were warped by just how much black support Biden was getting, but you really should be getting more than zero.
I suspect that's a sampling bias due to sample size. He probably has low support though. It's kind of crazy, but if the republican party wasn't insanely racist, and actually social/fiscal conservative, they would probably take a majority of the black vote. The black community supports gay rights, because they're acutely aware of minority rights issues, not because they really accept gay people.
Taken as an overall group anyway, obviously there's a whole range of views among the community.
I’m still upset with Buttigieg for his pre-Super-Tuesday drop out. He joined the establishment to rally against Sanders. In doing so, he became part of what’s wrong with the party.
While I don’t think poorly of him as a person per se, he is also just another politician.
In contrast, I see folks like Sanders and AOC as real agents of change.

And got rewarded with a cabinet position. Gotta love how they help each other move further in positions in government and fuck over the American people at the same time.
I hope Walz throws his hat into the ring.
Walz is a staunch zionist. Electing him would mean more years of the US sponsoring middle east violence that could literaly end humanity on the planet.
So another Biden.......
List doesn't include Zohran, meaningless.
Sadly ineligible. He's a naturalized citizen.
I heard the constitution means nothing nowadays
I'd wait for him to be new York mayor for a bit before going for the presidency, however, you have to be American born to be eligible for presidency.
wish it wasn't so, but them the current rules.
The rules also say something about birthright citizenship and asking congress for approval before throwing bombs on other countries.
rules and laws are for the poor you silly
Buttigieg got Wyatt Cenac's show cancelled.
I will never vote for that dude.
