Somehow, it seems to happen when the poors get too uppity about their lack of money. Hunh. Go figure. Sending their kids to genocide some people and come home in a bag has a certain attritional value to the whole thing. 🤔🤷🏼‍♂️

America doesn’t know who it is if it’s not killing someone.

That’s why we’ve been at war for all but 17 years of our existence.

Stop expecting that to change.

[–] Cruxifux@feddit.nl 17 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Don’t expect it to change. Force it to.

Me and what army?

I don’t even have a holocaust cloak

Well, if you're ever in Ohio, you've got at least one extra member, and there might be a certain aquatic horse nearby that could lend support.

I don't think the three of us can accomplish much by force though...

I've got a wheelbarrow though.

You’re right, we should just continue to do nothing.

[–] Semi_Hemi_Demigod@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You made the suggestion of forcing it.

You figure out how it’s done.

I’m not American. I organize in my own country. You guys say this shit like there aren’t whole books, historical context, organizations and the like that you can reference to. But what it is is that you just can’t get past the part of having to actually do something and take risks to save yourselves.

I agree, we’re fucking pathetic. Maybe we’ll do something if Trump taxes tea.

The US as a country is dragged into wars by its warmongering leaders.
None of us want this shit.

[–] sad_detective_man@leminal.space 16 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I was under the impression when we say "dragged" we meant by our out-of-touch oligarchical leaders.

The exception being desert storm which we all like to blame Bush half-jokingly for but we were legit just really horned up to go to war. Like holy damn so fucking thirsty for it. There was no other word to describe that besides just straight up bloodlust but we kind of like to pretend we didn't want it.

I don't know, they are pretty in tune with their pocket book most of the time.

She gotta point…the most powerful deal maker in the world(according to Trump) couldn’t make a deal and resorted to violence

[–] lugal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

Having this option is what makes deal makers powerful

[–] cabillaud@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

This way of thinking is why the US suck so bad at diplomacy

[–] lugal@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 6 days ago

They are powerful enough not to care

[–] merc@sh.itjust.works 7 points 1 week ago

Other countries, however, do get dragged into America's wars.

The US is the only ever to invoke article 5, requiring other countries to come to its aid. It did that after Sept 11th. Fair enough, other countries were pulled in and helped out. Then the US tried to roll that war in Afghanistan into another war in Iraq. Various countries like France and Canada refused to participate. The threats and anger directed at them for not joining in was huge. Other countries like the UK didn't fight it much and were pulled into that war.

All he had to do to not join the Isreali-Iran war was literally nothing

Damn, if they got "dragged" I would love to be "dragged" into owning a 50 acre woodland area with a small stream, a clearing for expanding my food garden, and maybe have a few free range chickens with a small but over-engineered house...

I didn't know you could be dragged while leading the charge...

I think it's the American people that feel dragged into war.

[–] nanook@friendica.eskimo.com 1 points 1 week ago

@SoftestSapphic It may be a policy choice but often one involving Mossad false flags or Epstein Island video blackmail.

They got all the best weapons. Here's one page from the Raytheon catalog Bibi was leafing through the other day, circling one thing after another.

BGU-12 Camp Camp refugee tent buster bomb (selectable dreidel or challah bread pattern).
YAL-2 Big Beautiful Beam anti food-aid-worker energy weapon (plays Havah Nagelah at every use).

Available in blue and white.

Includes free F-35 internal bomb bay rotary magazine. (Contact factory for F-15EX hardpoint stations.) Please allow 4-6 weeks for delivery, FOB Arlington County, Virginia to Tel Aviv, DC. Proudly made in America. Ask about toy merchandising rights for Christmas 2025!

Let's also not pretend that regimes like Iran don't need to be bombed for many good reasons.

Not the people, but the regime.

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world -1 points 1 week ago

Listen, Biden isn't Netanyahu. Biden does not control Netanyahu. Biden sent weapons and ammo to Israel but also withheld large bombs bought and paid for by Israel, and white house staff leaked he would often swear at Netanyahu over the phone for the civilian casualties and attacks on Rafah. Netanyahu felt the need to travel to the US congress and beg for more assistance, he was pressured.

If you want evidence of Biden's lukewarm opposition to genocide, look no further than what is happening under Trump: tanks on the ground in West Bank for the first time in decades, babies starving, Pete Hegseth openly promoting mass exodus or death of every Palestinian.
