"I got the shitter mobile from the guy who was tongueing Donalds bootyhole, then wrapped it to make it look like I wanted to be Trump's bestie, and for some reason everyone in the incredibly left leaning state I live in hates me???"

The number of times that this article suggests that “the design” or that it’s expensive is why Cybertruck drivers are getting harassed suggests these people live in fantasyland. If Ford or BMW had made this thing, none of this would have been happening. Having said that - the design is gross.

Honestly, I might like it more if it weren't the size of a monster truck. 30-50% smaller and it could have been a neat little runabout with huge cargo capacity and a quirky design. But it's basically a canyonero too large for most roads

If ford or bmw made this thing they'd go bankrupt. People only buy them because tesla makes them

I have to say I find it somewhat difficult to sympathise with the plight of a person who can afford one of those abominations (in gold, no less). Sorry for the kids though.

Their struggles are self-wrought and they are sycophantic about their pride. So when they start hearing noise from outside their echo chamber they aren't ready to experience the anger and frustration they wish on others.

His kids need to see this. This may be the wind that helps the fruit get some distance from the tree. The lesson has to be learned and their father has elected to fall on that sword. He wanted this. He paid for this. Why shouldn't a person be entitled to their opinion?

What's with this article? It's dated June 25 but the comments are from February.

Also it makes a hard turn into blatant ChatGPT-generated writing halfway through

Yeah especially that bullet list. I saw someone quote it here and I thought they asked chatgpt it's opinion but no, it's quoted from the article.

I mean he could do like the rest of us who no longer like something we bought, sell it to some other schmoe for significantly less than we paid for it.

[–] alsimoneau@lemmy.ca 8 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It's against TOS to resell them AFAIK

[–] n7gifmdn@lemmy.ca 13 points 1 year ago (1 children)

My word, these things get worse every time I learn something new about them.

sounds like a perfect opportunity to self drive it into the Tesla building while it's on fire.

"Sorry, it was broken and I told it to go to the shop to get fixed."

Why Is There So Much Hate for Cybertruck Owners?

This situation raises an important question: Why is there so much negativity towards Cybertruck owners?

Elon Musk Controversy: Some people dislike Musk’s political views and take it out on Tesla owners.
Bold Design: The Cybertruck already attracts attention—some love it, some hate it.
Political Associations: Many see the Cybertruck as a “right-wing” vehicle, causing backlash from those who disagree.
Jealousy & Class Divide: Some people resent expensive vehicles, assuming the owners are wealthy.
Flashy Wrap Choices: A gold Cybertruck makes an already controversial vehicle stand out even more.

Whatever the reason, no one should be harassed for simply driving the vehicle they love.

Yes, that's why.

I feel a bit bad for the people who really did buy it because they thought it was cool and not to make a statement. I can only assume those people exist because you never hear about them, but if they do that sucks. But yeah I'm just jealous of someone driving an enormous gold block probably.

Anyone who thought ot was cool was still obsessed with Elon Musk. I have no sympathy for anyone who can afford a $100,000 car

[–] NatakuNox@lemmy.world 10 points 1 year ago

This. We treat property like it's human in America. Boofuckinghoo to people crying about their $100,000 monument to everything wrong with humanity. All the materials that went into those trucks could have been used for so much good. But instead it went into barley functional vanity trucks. Even gas vanity trucks eventually get used. (fuck those trucks too, just saying) The cyber truck has no practical functionality in society.

I thought it was cool, but already knew about Tesla’s quality control problems with other vehicles. Add Elon’s brazen nazism to the mix and I would never, ever, ever have bought a Cybertruck or anything associated with Musk. We knew well in advance that Tesla had severe quality problems and that Musk was a right-wing fascist and nazi. If someone bought anything of his despite all that, it’s entirely on them. There is no way to justify it.

The use of bolding made it feel loke I was reading a tiktok video...

[–] jaybone@lemmy.zip 6 points 1 year ago

Wasn’t there a story about this same guy a couple months ago? Or is this a different guy with a gold Cybertruck?
