Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

Sen. John Cornyn was one Republican who supported the president on X, saying, “President Trump made the courageous and correct decision to eliminate the Iranian nuclear threat. God Bless the USA. Thank you to our extraordinary military and our indomitable POTUS. This is what leadership on the world stage looks like.”

Yeah.

THEN FUCKING DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT, YOU INEFFECTUAL, CROCODILE-TEAR CRYING, LYING PIECE OF SHIT! YOU COULD INTRODUCE ARTICLES OF IMPEACHMENT RIGHT FUCKING NOW IF YOU ACTUALLY GAVE A DAMN!

[–] venusaur@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Even if he’s impeached I’m not confident he’d have to step down. Good just in case though.

[–] buttnugget@lemmy.world 9 points 8 months ago

Impeachment is the first step. It’s a vote by the House. Then you have a trial in the Senate. There is no way he’d ever step down, so he’d have to be removed that way. It’s a simple majority in the House and two thirds in the Senate.

That's not the point. The point is that Rep. Thomas Massie is personally in a position to do something about it himself, and needs to shut the fuck up and put his money where his mouth is. As a member of the House of Representatives, there is absolutely nothing stopping him from unilaterally filing articles of impeachment. He doesn't need consensus, he doesn't need the support of party leadership, he doesn't need anybody's permission. He can just do it. Right now.

So will he actually do it, or is he just yet another Trump-ass-licking fascist shitstain with zero credibility?

[–] hansolo@lemmy.today 27 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Y'all gotta read more than the headline.

Rep. Tom Massie has been the key most Libertarian Congressperson that consistently gives strong Ron Paul circa 2009 energy. He's been a constant headache for Trump because he doesn't ever like Trump's policy positions for not being insane enough. The lone No vote against the antisemitism resolution just for show.

Yeah, he's a bad person with a few good points that make him stand out.

He was critical of the patriot act, thinks medial marijuana patients should be allowed to to buy guns, was one of the only two Nays on the Take it Down act, etc.

But he basically thinks the FDA, EPA, and Federal Reserve shouldn't exist, thinks lynching shouldn't be a hate crime, is against the ACA, doesn't like disaster relief, thought it was wrong to imprison an admitted unregistered foreign agent(spy), thought Rittenhouse should have emptied the clip, is a hardline anti-abortionist, etc. e. And on and on it goes.

He also doesn't think billionaires should pay taxes. He is a nutjob. Ignore him.

[–] hansolo@lemmy.today 3 points 8 months ago

I mean, that's simply statistics. The dude votes on 100 bills and isn't simply following the party line, a few will not be votes for stupidity or hate.

[–] El_guapazo@lemmy.world 25 points 8 months ago

I'm sure Collins will show great concern.

[–] iamjackflack@lemm.ee 20 points 8 months ago

Remove Trump now!

[–] Lon3star@lemmy.world 19 points 8 months ago

They only care enough to ensure reelection

We (Americans) don’t get punished for war crimes. Those are only enforced on countries without leverage. This is why it’s so important to keep leverage (big beautiful bombs) out of the hands of anti-Christian dictatorships. Also, our supreme court ruled that he can do anything in the context of being president. I’m bummed that he had to go to war over low approval ratings but no better target than Iran if you’re going to do it. It’s a bigger country than Gaza while being equally shit and Israel will absorb much of the short term retaliation. I’m curious to see how China reacts.

[–] WhiskyTangoFoxtrot@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

Trump's trade wars have destroyed a lot of America's leverage. Your military was about all you had left, and that's going to be tied up in Iran for who knows how long now.

[–] some_guy@lemmy.sdf.org 12 points 8 months ago

Gosh, I thought you guys gave him a pass on all kinds of other illegal shit. What did you expect?

[–] Empricorn@feddit.nl 10 points 8 months ago (1 children)

So... He'll vote to impeach our mad king then, right...? He's illegally attacking another country, endangering American lives, and escalating world instability. He'll vote to impeach and remove Trump, right??

[–] hansolo@lemmy.today 7 points 8 months ago

He might, but not for the reasons you want.

Tom Massie is a hard-right libertarian, and Trump doesn't like him because he usually fairly obstructionist to Trump goals. Often because they're not extreme enough, or not austere enough.

[–] CharlesDarwin@lemmy.world 6 points 8 months ago

Well, here's a clue that the entire Republican Party could really use - nothing that Taco has been doing has been Constitutional.

[–] Anomalocaris@lemm.ee 5 points 8 months ago

why say that if you're not going to do anything besides fold inline?

[–] Treczoks@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

Well, yes. Now when are you doing the right thing, and call for impeachment proceedings?

And by the way, any impeachment process should include a stern warning for JD not to even think about any kind of pardons for Trump, or get impeached in turn.

[–] oyzmo@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago

It's official, US is a dictatorship 😢

[–] Ensign_Crab@lemmy.world 2 points 8 months ago

I'd like to see more opposition to this from democrats than I have from republicans.

[–] Lushed_Lungfish@lemmy.ca -5 points 8 months ago (1 children)

You people can't even read your Constitution.

[–] Tronn4@lemmy.world 6 points 8 months ago

The new thing is to say they didn't fully read the bill/constitution when they agreed to it
