He’s not using the royal “we”—that’s a common point of confusion. He’s actually using the caesaropapal “we”.

Trump isn’t a king the same way Augustus wasn’t a king—they became something even more extreme, while dressing themselves up in the shells of the republican institutions they destroyed.
His reasoning as to not being a king is that he's trying to be a king and it's harder than he expected? Is the sword of damocles too scary for him??
Completely unrelated, but the band Sleep Token released a song title Damocles in their recent album, and it's great. The whole album and everything they release is great, but I am particularly fond of Damocles.

Not going to lie, I'm really irritated that his birthday falls on the exact date of this anniversary... He can have his birthday dictator worship and claim that's not what it's for and make us look "ungrateful to the army" for protesting it...

"A king would say I'm not going to get this...he wouldn't have to call up [House Speaker] Mike Johnson and [Senate Majority Leader John] Thune..." Needs to change up his statement to say "...he wouldn't have to call up all of his blindly loyal 'yes men' " Because that's just so much effort for him.
