Ye Power Trippin' Bastards

1706 readers
23 users here now

This is a community in the spirit of "Am I The Asshole" where people can post their own bans from lemmy or reddit or whatever and get some feedback from others whether the ban was justified or not.

Sometimes one just wants to be able to challenge the arguments some mod made and this could be the place for that.

Posting Guidelines

All posts should follow this basic structure:

  1. Which mods/admins were being Power Tripping Bastards?
  2. What sanction did they impose (e.g. community ban, instance ban, removed comment)?
  3. Provide a screenshot of the relevant modlog entry (don’t de-obfuscate mod names).
  4. Provide a screenshot and explanation of the cause of the sanction (e.g. the post/comment that was removed, or got you banned).
  5. Explain why you think its unfair and how you would like the situation to be remedied.

Rules

Expect to receive feedback about your posts, they might even be negative.

Make sure you follow this instance's code of conduct. In other words we won't allow bellyaching about being sanctioned for hate speech or bigotry.

YPTB matrix channel: For real-time discussions about bastards or to appeal mod actions in YPTB itself.

Apparently this made @catloaf@lemm.ee mad enough to downvote this whole post.

The clown struggles with reality again. I've found it's not even worth my time engaging with him.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 11 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Were you the one who called them a clown and got the comments removed cause you hurt their feelings?

[–] TachyonTele@piefed.social 12 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Sure was lol. It's his name afterall!

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 9 points 8 months ago

I know.

It's like if they got butthurt if you called them Chuckles.

Why aren't you just blocking Hilarious Chaos?

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 5 points 8 months ago

I haven’t posted there in about three months.

[–] UniversalMonk@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 8 months ago

Exactly. If someone doesn't like a poster/community/instance, just block and move on. I don't even understand why someone would post or keep in touch with a community they totally disagree with.

They won't change the main poster's minds, and people who hate the community already agree with them. So what is the point?

BPR - Bait-Provoked Reaction. Seems it was posted to a conservative community just to provoke reaction. (Edited comment to remove pointing to OP because OP wasn't the poster of the comment that got removed.)

Here’s the removed comment with the ‘moderator’ in question.

Be sure to let everyone know that it's a community called "Conservative" that it was posted to.

[–] southsamurai@sh.itjust.works 7 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Yeah, sorry mate, but this is BPR.

You went trolling and got a bite.

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 13 points 8 months ago

I actually wasn't involved in that conversation I just found it to be an abuse of Chuckle's power.

Content censorship but you were shilling pretty hard, I think that's what got them triggered

[–] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 4 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Anything less than complete loyalty to Trump is triggering to those snowflakes.

I understand why they have their safe spaces.

[–] UniversalMonk@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

I understand why they have their safe spaces.

Then people shouldn't insist going into the "safe" spaces, and posting stuff that is against that community's spirit.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 1 points 8 months ago (1 children)

Document the behavit for the anals of history?

[–] UniversalMonk@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 8 months ago* (last edited 8 months ago) (1 children)

But isn't that bad faith? If they are going someplace safe to talk amongst themselves and not posting their stuff in other places, then let them be. It's already documented because they are on Lemmy.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

If this is a repeat act the sure, that would be bad faith.

But i also never seen reports on this community here. I didn't even know there places for alt right to congrate on fedi.

So good there is but also tankies and normies get this treatment so I am not sure why alt right get an exemption tbh

[–] UniversalMonk@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 8 months ago (1 children)

But i also never seen reports on this community here.

There have been other posts about this community, in fact, I think from OP.

So good there is but also tankies and normies get this treatment so I am not sure why alt right get an exemption tbh

Oh, I'm not saying alt right should get an exemption, I'm saying I think it's bad faith, regardless of the community. If it's a community just for a particular political leaning, I think it's bad form to just post stuff in there to stir stuff up.

Also, regarding the OP: the person posting didn't get banned, just had their post removed. So I don't see it as on over-reach of the mod's power. His (or her) community, and they can dictate what's appropriate content in it.

[–] Flatworm7591@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 8 months ago (1 children)

I agree with your general sentiment on this. It's the same concept as anti-AI trolls shit stirring in posts from genAI communities. It's a pointless exercise getting butthurt about it when they get banned.

BPR. I'm certainly not defending the community though. We defederated from that instance a while back over their right wing communities afaik.

[–] UniversalMonk@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 8 months ago (2 children)

Exactly. I'm not conservative, so I don't really care THAT much, but I do think as long as they aren't posting anything illegal, then let them be. I'm not a big furries fan either, but hey if someone wants to post furry articles all day, go for it. Lemmy is starting to really get extreme about voices they don't like.

We have such good tools to block and defend tho, I don't see any point in poking the bears. What if Lemmy skewed conservative and they tried to do all this shit to liberals?! Everyone would be yelling about how unfair it is.

Blocking users and communities is so freaking easy; people are just creating drama by continually posting to communities they don't agree with, just because they really like drama.

I miss the days when not every fucking thing had to be about politics. lol

[–] Flatworm7591@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 8 months ago

Me too tbh.

[–] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

But did you consider that if I hate a user, they must be purged from all communities and all instances?! They proved me wrong, so they must be banned! They were right the entire time, so they're evil! I'm the good guy here, I just want to ban anyone I dislike!

[–] UniversalMonk@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 8 months ago (1 children)

You joke, but I see soooo many on Lemmy like that now! lol

[–] eugenevdebs@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 8 months ago

Its .world's motto at this point. Agree with the admin/mod groupthink, or you must be purged.
