I feel that worked great for reddit but doesn't for Lemmy. The culture is slightly different IMO.

Went to their website, clicked on the link that said "Click here to see the popular GnuSocial sites you can join", and it showed a completely empty list. That seems indicative of something. :)

I think the network kind of faded away. Even the FSF shutter their instance: https://status.fsf.org/

I ran an instance a long time ago, back when quitter.se was the main instance.
