Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

And then they are trying to sell these to the EU 🙄

[–] Joncash2@lemmy.ml 63 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Trying to force the EU to buy these at gun point. The problem is the EU is calling their bluff.

[–] Tja@programming.dev 15 points 10 months ago

As an EU citizen, I don't really see it as "a problem" :D

[–] Enkers@sh.itjust.works 92 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Trump inadvertently tackling climate change by making animals unsafe to eat.

[–] Mihies@programming.dev 25 points 10 months ago

Lol, yes, also destroying industry and makes everything pricier to lower sales.

[–] fluffykittycat@slrpnk.net 23 points 10 months ago (3 children)

We're gonna have to go vegan for food safety reasons

[–] Tja@programming.dev 12 points 10 months ago

Wait until you hear what they plan about EColi in vegetables.

[–] Broadfern@lemmy.world 10 points 10 months ago

Boil everything and hope nothing survives since the fresh produce is screwed too

[–] Enkers@sh.itjust.works 3 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

Well the U.S. is getting in shape soon. Can't be fat if you are exploding from both ends.

[–] Veidenbaums@lemmy.ml 25 points 10 months ago (3 children)

Are they followers of nurgle or something? Anti-vax now this.

[–] Sludgehammer@lemmy.world 15 points 10 months ago

Are they followers of nurgle or something?

Hasn't that been obvious since their handling of COVID?

[–] HuntressHimbo@lemm.ee 13 points 10 months ago

This will bring grandfather such joy

[–] andros_rex@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

[–] wanderwisley@lemm.ee 5 points 10 months ago

Our Salmonella will be the biggest salmonella ever! 🫲🍊🫱

[–] Ledericas@lemm.ee 1 points 10 months ago

You get that from contaminated water, salmonella thyphoid

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 23 points 10 months ago (4 children)

So please explain how this law makes the lives of Americans better?

And the two single owners of poultry companies don't count

[–] Imgonnatrythis@sh.itjust.works 6 points 10 months ago

Why don't they count? Are they just weak millionaires instead of billionaires? If they are billionaires and this helps them out a bit, I don't think American poors will mind a little more disease.

[–] uienia@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Trump doesnt legislate to make the lives of americans better, never has, he legislates to make lives of his oligarch "donors" better.

[–] nooneescapesthelaw@mander.xyz 1 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago) (1 children)

Might lower the price by 0.001¢ (0.00001$)

[–] phoenixz@lemmy.ca 1 points 10 months ago

Hah!

If anything, they'll just make up an excuse and then increase the price anyway

[–] madjo@feddit.nl 1 points 10 months ago

Regulations are for the weak, also, stop testing for salmonella, fewer tests mean fewer cases. /republicans

[–] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 21 points 10 months ago (1 children)

If you don’t have a food thermometer, get one now. Salmonella can be easily killed by cooking at the proper temperature.

[–] RvTV95XBeo@sh.itjust.works 10 points 10 months ago (2 children)

Or, hear me out, just eat more veggies. Much lower risk of disease spread (though yes, as I'm sure others well be eager to point out, they can carry pathogens, would you rather take your chances with a raw carrot or a raw chicken breast)

[–] Catoblepas@lemmy.blahaj.zone 15 points 10 months ago

I already don’t eat meat, but it’s something important to know for people who do.

[–] iknowitwheniseeit@lemmynsfw.com 4 points 10 months ago

Most cases of food poisoning come from bacteria on vegetables. Probably because people do eat a lot of raw vegetables, but don't eat much raw meat.

[–] kikutwo@lemmy.world 15 points 10 months ago

Obviously the great Orange wonder wants to gain export acceptance by raising the salmonella level and we just need to eat it lol

[–] xc2215x@lemmy.world 14 points 10 months ago

Another bad decision from this administration.

[–] markstos@lemmy.world 14 points 10 months ago

Welp, vegan it is then. L

[–] skisnow@lemmy.ca 13 points 10 months ago

What makes this even more batshit insane is that they're currently pressuring the UK and EU to lift their ban on US chicken; a ban which only exists because of the already poor food safety standards of the US meat industry.

[–] ncrav@lemmings.world 12 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Hope they invest on new sewer infrastructure to handle the literal shitstom.

[–] catloaf@lemm.ee 15 points 10 months ago

No, that would be socialism. Let the sewage flow in the streets and we can get E. coli too, for no extra charge!

[–] Montreal_Metro@lemmy.ca 10 points 10 months ago (1 children)

Hahahah they are literally “lizard” people the right wing conspiracy nutcases have been telling everyone about. The best thing is the right wing nutcases are the ones who voted them in.

[–] AngryCommieKender@lemmy.world 4 points 10 months ago

Every accusation is a confession from them.

[–] tlekiteki@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 10 months ago (1 children)

[–] tlekiteki@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 10 months ago

And what is the crime? Enjoying a poultry? A succulent poultry carcass?? GET YOUR HAND OFF MY PENIS!

[–] Etterra@discuss.online 3 points 10 months ago

Note to self: cook chicken even harder.

[–] madjo@feddit.nl 2 points 10 months ago
