Milwaukee County Circuit Judge Hannah Dugan was arrested April 25 by federal authorities who are investigating whether she tried to help an undocumented immigrant avoid arrest after he appeared in her courtroom last week, officials confirmed.

Brady McCarron, spokesman for U.S. Marshals Service in Washington, D.C., confirmed Dugan was arrested at about 8 a.m. at the Milwaukee County Courthouse and is in federal custody.

FBI Director Kash Patel posted on X about the arrest.

"Just NOW, the FBI arrested Judge Hannah Dugan out of Milwaukee, Wisconsin on charges of obstruction — after evidence of Judge Dugan obstructing an immigration arrest operation last week," Patel wrote. "We believe Judge Dugan intentionally misdirected federal agents away from the subject to be arrested in her courthouse, Eduardo Flores Ruiz, allowing the subject — an illegal alien — to evade arrest."

Officials have not yet identified the defendant whom she is accused of assisting, but it appears to be Eduardo Flores-Ruiz, a Mexican immigrant facing three misdemeanor battery counts. He was in Dugan's courtroom on April 18 for a scheduling hearing.

Sources have told the Journal Sentinel that ICE officials arrived in Dugan's courtroom on the morning of April 18. When they went to the chief judge's office, Dugan directed the defendant and his attorney to a side door in the courtroom, directed them down a private hallway and into the public area on the 6th floor.

Last week's arrest marked at least the third time in recent months that federal immigration agents have come to the courthouse with arrest warrants. In March and early April, two people were arrested by ICE officials in the hallways of the courthouse.

Perfectly reasonable behavior for a judge, given that the ICE Gestapo are kidnapping people and sending them to concentration camps without trial. But it's enough to get the judge arrested by the ICE Gestapo. Trump's regime doesn't respect judges or the law.

Yeah, I mean among other things once ICE kidnapped this guy there was no way she was going to be able to finish holding a proper trial on the charges that actually brought him there, so she just took a series of fully legal steps (i.e. she's allowed to access that private hallway and grant other people access to it) to protect the judicial process of her trial same as any judge should want to do.

I think in light of this development it's now perfectly reasonable for judges to just instantly order the arrest of any ICE agents that show up to their court rooms on a charge of attempted justice obstruction. Put them in a jail cell and make them defend their actions and intentions before they do that to you, nothing less is going to be sufficient for protecting the orderly process of trials from ICE's obstruction.

Dude's there for his trial, ICE shows up to obstruct justice (as they have done before), Judge doesn't let ICE obstruct justice, Judge is arrested for obstruction.

Every new step is testing the waters of what the people will accept. They've already backtracked on things that were sufficiently unpopular. We need to push back hard, now. Call your reps, get in the streets, say Judge Hannah Dugan's name.

No, not yet. Trump (or his advisors) are playing a very good game of just touching the line, and then shifting the line over so they don’t cross it. We need to recognize this and shut it down asap or we will definitely be there soon

And we'll still hear "moderates" cry about how mean it is to call this administration fascist.

I’m not sure I am hearing any of that anymore. Which moderates are you talking about?

[–] Quill7513@slrpnk.net 9 points 10 months ago (1 children)

[–] PhilipTheBucket@ponder.cat 4 points 10 months ago

Oh. Yeah, I wouldn't call those moderates anymore. Those are just nazis at this point. And yes there are way more of them then there should be.
