⚄︎ Perchance

This is a Lemmy Community for perchance.org, a platform for sharing and creating random text generators.

Feel free to ask for help, share your generators, and start friendly discussions at your leisure :)

This community is mainly for discussions between those who are building generators. For discussions about using generators, especially the popular AI ones, the community-led Casual Perchance forum is likely a more appropriate venue.

See this post for the Complete Guide to Posting Here on the Community!

Rules

1. Please follow the Lemmy.World instance rules.

2. Be kind and friendly.

  • Please be kind to others on this community (and also in general), and remember that for many people Perchance is their first experience with coding. We have members for whom English is not their first language, so please be take that into account too :)

3. Be thankful to those who try to help you.

  • If you ask a question and someone has made a effort to help you out, please remember to be thankful! Even if they don't manage to help you solve your problem - remember that they're spending time out of their day to try to help a stranger :)

4. Only post about stuff related to perchance.

  • Please only post about perchance related stuff like generators on it, bugs, and the site.

5. Refrain from requesting Prompts for the AI Tools.

  • We would like to ask to refrain from posting here needing help specifically with prompting/achieving certain results with the AI plugins (text-to-image-plugin and ai-text-plugin) e.g. "What is the good prompt for X?", "How to achieve X with Y generator?"
  • See Perchance AI FAQ for FAQ about the AI tools.
  • You can ask for help with prompting at the 'sister' community Casual Perchance, which is for more casual discussions.
  • We will still be helping/answering questions about the plugins as long as it is related to building generators with them.

6. Search through the Community Before Posting.

  • Please Search through the Community Posts here (and on Reddit) before posting to see if what you will post has similar post/already been posted.

Hi there @[email protected],

Saw one of your posts in here and thought I'd give you a little cheer.

For what it's worth, you're making a big difference with Perchance, and you should not beat yourself up for lagging behind in terms of latest technologies. Perchance for me personally was the first place where I've delved into the world of AI generation that didn't limit me in terms of creativity. Thanks to you I've gotten to know a bit more about Stable Diffusion and prompting in general. This was a kickstart to explore it further. Without perchance I would have probably just shrugged the whole AI generation thing off and called it a day.

Thanks to you and perchance, I've found a community that I talk to this day. It's been more than a year now. And this is, my man, something for you to be proud of. You created something that connects people. The comments plugin comes with its own challenges and creepy people, but this is an absolute killer feature that distinguishes perchance from other AI platforms. Real time communication while generating is a unique and amazing way to connect with others. Forum posts just don't cut it today, because everyone is used to instant messaging these days.

Don't listen to people who complain about perchance being horribly out of date. These people don't know what they're talking about. They didn't lay a finger to improve perchance in any way. Pulling off a project like perchance is not an easy feat. Not to mention that you do this voluntarily, and it costs nothing for us. Take all the time you need, and take pride in your work - because it does makes a difference.

Hugs from furry generator, Perp

Those heartfelt sentiments ain't nothin. Hold my beer.

I cry literally every night thinking about how wonderful you are. I named my first child Perchance and my second will be Perchance Two. First thing is don't listen to the haters. You built and have a thriving community. Who can say that? And remember you aren't in it for the money. You ARE that shining beacon of hope people wish for when browsing the internet. You are that nice thing that isn't trying to harvest people. And Perchance is more than just AI. If someone is only in it for the top quality ai possible, it's ok that they move on. You don't have to keep everybody; which I'm sure you know.

Always remember you are a bright light in an otherwise dark internet. There are many people who are thankful just to be in contact with you and sharing in this beautiful thing, Perchance, you are making. You are, in a myriad ways, helping people. And remember you aren't on anyone else's clock. When things feel right to you is when to do them, not because someone else said so.

I hereby name the combination of the US states Washington, Oregon, and California, should they secede, Perchanchistan (In recognition of how you're the best). When I was 5, in our village, we had a legend of 'The Chosen One'. Their name would start with a P and end with a Erchance. You literally help kids, en masse, get in to coding. That is one of the best things a person can do. There will be a generation of people thanking you for why they are so smart and successful. Anyway, yeah really don't listen to the haters. And also I think it important to say again that there is no rush on anyone else's part. It's your project and up to you how it progresses. It could be 2 years before you update and those who are only here for shallow reasons will be gone and those who aren't will still be here. Nothing will be really lost. Tho also we should be thankful for the info you share and the roadmap. You are literally the best dev ever (xcept perhaps for the person who created Deepseek). Second best maybe. That person who made Deepseek wow. You know he had the highest college scores in his region and then got in to automated trading, and made basically infinite money, and then Deepseek was his next project. Like wow. Basically won at life. Ok. Bye!

Weren't you the one that made the post that this is in response to?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago) (1 children)

oh probably. I had just decided to effectively take down a 450,000 view generator. Would be silly if I didn't say why. The OP may hate the reason I gave but what, should I have lied then and said it was cuz I was going on vacation or something? lol. I believe Perchance, like me, appreciates correct feedback, so I said the true reason instead. :)

Anyway, tho the last paragraph of OP sounds like 'YOU SO BAD NO HATERS', that doesn't mean that's the actual situation and, tho OP post is like 20% hate, the other 80% is highly supportive of Perchance; so it's worth adding to. Was also fun making that response :) and that's the part I think most of the people used to Perchance drama miss. Depending on where one looks, Perchance can be a place of Drama OR Perchance can be a place of fun. I personally avoid all the drama chats, so, for me, Perchance is a place of fun. Anyway, watch this. "Beautiful People had a lame chat cuz allo never fostered a community within it, which is the main thing, imo, rudbo's gen has that bp lacked. I also love how rudbo does events and community involvement." I could hear someone say that, be thankful for the feedback, and also agree, lol. Notice how I'm not suddenly dark and brooding. I'm basically not in the drama mentality. And now i'm trying making a game again since I'm not focusing on ai art any more. :) For me, it's the creating stuff that is fun (or trolling wildly lol).

Anyway, if anything, the two things I would leave u with are:

  • people may want to catch you up in drama, but you don't have to join in. It's you who determines your experience. I've seen people get pulled SUPER in to Perchance drama. But you don't have to step in to it even a bit.

  • community support is good to do and that it happens shows the dev is a genuinely worthy individual. So community support is something we can all take part in and should receive positive feedback.

You seem to be inferring a lot of things that I didn't say.

Talking about how you're not in the drama and avoiding the drama is not, in fact, avoiding the drama. My point was that your post (perhaps unintentionally) came off as extremely sarcastic. If you are truly staying out of the drama, then why did you post what you did? You could have simply said nothing and let this person show their appreciation.

cheer up :)

you'll be amazed at how wonderful the world is when you see things positively instead of negatively.

bye!

???

I... wasn't upset. I'm still not.

As an aside, I only just realized your avatar is a nice landscape image of a river going through hills. From the tiny image on my phone I thought it looked like some cartoon mouse for some reason... I really need new glasses.

I concur 100%. Having retired and finally gotten some time to learn more about AI, I poked around a little and stumbled across Perchance. Never looked elsewhere after that. Other UIs just do not have the creativity tools and the background handling to maintain a coherent chat for very long. Granted, it takes a little learning to use Perchance effectively, but that comes with any tool (no one gets a nice model out of Blender in the first couple hours!). I have found Perchance to be a superior experience and you can't beat the price!

I agree completely. First post of mine on this forum, but I'll say that Perchance AI Character Chat has become a hobby of mine now. I always had a passion for storytelling, and when I found ACC, I was immediately hooked on how I had the freedom to make the settings and stories that were always on my mind.

Not only that, but they also became reactive, living worlds that are so nice to explore and immerse myself into. Lately, I've got even more interested and finally went to have a look at the code. As a programmer IRL, I try to improve and add features to it on a separate, personal fork that hopefully also has things of interest to others.

I've also made guides and other things for it because I enjoy seeing other people using it and having fun as well.

I want to thank you so much for the amazing work on Perchance and AI Character Chat! Do not let the rage and frustration of some people dishearten you.
