Panama, afaik doesn't get paid. Just gets continued invasion threats no matter how much they bend over.

El Salvador could double its GDP if they can just keep 1.75M prisoners alive. ($35B/year)

Panama gets mad paid, wtf you talking about?

They charge every boat that passes. That's why Trump is threatening to invade.

Shipping volume is slower due to drought/global warming. China has proposed constructing a railway to increase shipping volume and allow bigger ships on each side of the railway. The threats to Panama are also related to making sure Panama stays as poor as possible, and their government so far is showing US subservience with nothing in return.

Subservience? Maybe in the past, but right now they're not aligning with Trump

Panama agreed to sell Canal/Chinese ownership of ports along canal to Blackrock. They agreed to receive deportations from US. Afterwards, Trump ordered US military to draw up invasion plans on Panama. Since, Panama has made BS allegations that Hong Kong company owning ports failed to fully pay for stuff. Panama is licking the diaper harder than Columbia. Both licking harder than rest of world.

Columbia to Venezuela would be an alternate route for railway.

Is the US checking up on these prisoners to ensure they're still alive? El Salvador prison reports a life expectancy of 98 years old 🤑

Don't worry about the giant dirt mounds in the back of the prison

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 hours ago

Bukele is basically a supervillain so I'd expect him to throw prisoners into his bitcoin-mining volcano.

[–] [email protected] 37 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Exactly. Wouldn’t it be cheaper to just kill prisoners and take the money?

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 day ago (2 children)

I'd worry as a tourist. Can El Salvador get paid for detaining anyone themselves? Isn't it an anti-American act to go visit El Salvador as a Canadian?

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 hours ago

I was just in El Salvador for a month, felt safer there than most central American countries.

I'm assuming America is only paying El Salvador for prisoners America sends to El Salvador. They don't give a shit what El Salvador does to their own domestic prisoners, or America's, quite frankly.

Did you see the dark red stains between two of the prison's buildings?

It's high temperature automotive grease for sure.

You know, I bet there'd be a lot fewer pretty crimes if we were all given a 1600/mo UBI.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 13 hours ago* (last edited 13 hours ago) (1 children)

But then poor people would vote, which could be dangerous.

Maybe they can just introduce a poll tax or exam to weed out the poor. /s

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 day ago (1 children)

the blight wing hates pretty crimes

[–] [email protected] 2 points 23 hours ago (1 children)

What about "oh so pretty crimes"?

"Witty crimes"? "Gay crimes"?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 18 hours ago

That are very hard on gay crimes.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago

A more right wing UBI that was denied to immigrants, but still gave them a path to eventual citizenship "in exchange for slavery" would have pretty high wage jobs available to them and also a good alternative to crime. UBI is the only path to social harmony and peace.

$20k/year conditional only on being a Venezuelan gang member in US, would have perverse, and divisive, incentives. But boost tatoo industry.

[–] [email protected] 51 points 1 day ago (1 children)

They could just give me the 20K and I'll just stay home and play video games.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 day ago

Hey now, the only ones who get to stay on self-monitored house arrest are rich people.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Bet they keep a running list and just stack up the payments. When Trump is gone, someone needs to confirm these people are alive/dead then cut payments along with taking the innocent out. If they are still alive of course

[–] [email protected] 2 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

If you cut payments, they'll be executed immediately, innocent or not.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 hours ago

Exactly, guess you'll have to exact first.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Less than it costs in the US, but still kind of a lot

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

There is a plan to deport 13M. Not all would end up in El Salvador labour camps, but there is a loss in GDP from less consumption, less work, and less housing demand. US prisons are generally $100k per inmate. The bright side is that it is all domestic GDP. El Salvador won't buy our cars, but prison guards need F350s for some reason. Forget manufacturing, if half the people in US work on imprisoning the other half, full employment!!!!, and MAGA achieved, and the white half can afford $5k iphones.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 day ago

Well then, they should be able to afford those eggs with that kind of money. STOP complaining!
