Unironically I read union headlines now and have a moment of panic/confusion because I can't tell an onion article at a glance. 10 years ago the onion was just a moment of bemusement, now I have to check the source. Same with the Beaverton that I see on Lemmy occasionally.

The Onion could start writing about good things happening and then they'd be more Onion.

"Trump signs executive order to provide subsidizing school lunches for underprivileged elementary schools"

Something laughably unrealistic like that.

Then it will make you cry, like an onion should.

Trump admits to not being that great, promises to try to be a better person in future

It's like the world leveled up so now The Onion has to level up too.

All The Onion has to do is write headlines and articles that would have been real a decade or two ago.

more like predictions news.

Yes. We have genuine headlines that are far more bizarre than anything the onion could come out with.
