Americans eating like they got free healthcare or something.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 4 days ago

There is a reason the "standard american diet" abbreviates to sad.

Heart disease in that 10% remaining. It hits so hard, the other diseases don't even get a chance 😢

Hey man, I was a fat ass with high cholesterol and pre diabetic. I ate keto and cut most carbs from my diet (20mg max a day) and not only did I lose 60lb, my arthritis and back pain disappeared. My cholesterol is at an acceptable levels without medication.

Sugars and carbs are what is unhealthy. Not meats and fats.

[–] [email protected] 20 points 4 days ago (1 children)

When you are fat you need to cut down carbs for a while to allow cells to into burning fat for fuel. Keto diet is a very useful tool to loose weight but not yet proven to be healthy long term. Carbs are not unhealthy if sourced from wholefoods since they will always come with the one very important thing keto diets lack: fiber.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago (2 children)

Ya, you can't eat bad fats. You need clean fats. Not all carbs are made the same. Fructose consumed by real fruits is good.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Fructose consumed by real fruits is good.

Fruits are pretty good because they contain important micronutrients and fibre. But the fructose they contain is still just sugar, and not a whole lot better in its own right than the sugar in lollies and biscuits.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

Ya, still gotta make sure to not blow past the 20g of sugar with fruits.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

Agree. Whole foods should be the staple of a healthy diet.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 4 days ago (2 children)

This has lots of potatoes that are high in carbs, so I don't think it's keto. Also, everything is healthy in moderation (except stuff like smoking, alcohol) and unhealthy if you eat to much and the keto diet is definitely not for everyone, so be careful making those generalized claims.

A low carb diet high fat does not necessarily give you high ldls, which is what clogs those arteries. Same can be said about sugar, which can be stored as fat and clogs those same arteries. As long as everything is in moderation, there is nothing wrong with eating like a dog on its birthday!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Yeah, but it looks like there's quite a bit of cheese melted on top of two of those servings of eggs. Plus the potatoes may have been roasted with an unhealthy oil. I agree, everything in moderation. For most meals, this person should stick to one serving of bachelor chow.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago (3 children)

I dont really like eggs much, but it looks less like cheese to me than just really runny eggs

That’s way too much fucking food.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 3 days ago

I dunno, I could probably crush two of those plates

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

I know multiple friends that easily eat that and myb 20-50% more on a regular and are some of the most fit people I know. Ofc they exercise a fuckton and only eating food like this would probably lead to cardiac arrest, but my point is it depends on the person.

[–] [email protected] 48 points 4 days ago

Can't get diarrhea if you've got a bowel blockage.

[–] [email protected] 48 points 4 days ago

Technically correct, because this diet would kill 90% of the people

[–] [email protected] 45 points 4 days ago (4 children)

Everyone is focusing on the horror of the cholesterol but no one is asking the real question:

What kind of psychopath eats kiwi with eggs??

[–] [email protected] 15 points 4 days ago

It's part of the carnivore diet. It's a dumb trend among American men, who think if they'd ate more than a handful of plant based stuff, they became vegan betamales.

I thought the same, until I unfortunately realised they're not talking about the image we think they are

[–] [email protected] 12 points 4 days ago

Oh...

Yuck.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago

Yep, saw the lower right and audibly uttered, "Oh god!"

[–] [email protected] 7 points 4 days ago

Gotta love how they added the fattiest vegetable/fruit to this dish.

"Hmmm.... needs some greens. Oh I'll just add the juiciest avocado."

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

Weird, i thought it was brussel sprouts until i zoomed in on it.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Jesus, I had convinced myself that was Green Beans or Pea Pods, but no, you're right.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

it's a horrible day to have eyes

[–] [email protected] 36 points 4 days ago (1 children)

it’s not fast food so it’s better than many an American’s meal but you could do with less carbs and meats and eggs and more vegitables

[–] [email protected] 10 points 4 days ago (1 children)

Nothing wrong with carbs if they are from whole foods.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I think the comment was not against carbs in general, just their proportion to veggies.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 4 days ago

If thats the case, I agree!

[–] [email protected] 22 points 4 days ago

I got constipated looking at this post

[–] [email protected] 10 points 3 days ago

Arguably people eating like this is a cause of many illnesses, and this is coming from a professional fatass.

[–] [email protected] 29 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (2 children)

Good lord, the amount of eggs there. The steak by itself doesnt look like a horrifying amount but thats gotta be like 6-10 eggs in each picture!

[–] [email protected] 12 points 4 days ago (1 children)

I'll never forget when I worked on industrial solar farms for the power grid, I worked with this absolutely jacked bro that would blast EDM on the overnights when it was too hot to legally work in the daytime.

He would crush like 20 egg whites when we'd go to Denny's.

Never really understood how that worked into his diet but it worked for him and he was cool as shit.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 4 days ago (1 children)

20 egg whites is only something like 400 calories (100g protein), a totally reasonable amount of protein to get if you were weightlifting and building muscles. little weird to do it all at once though

[–] [email protected] 2 points 4 days ago

That probably had more to do with our working conditions tbh. We would work 12-16 hour shifts, frequently flipping between days and overnights due to the heat.

Eating one big meal after working was all you could do sometimes. You're basically in survival mode. We would also usually split a case of water per day due to sweating so much and staying hydrated.

He would eat like 20 egg whites as well as some other low carb breakfast at Denny's. Then go work out. Dude was a beast lol.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 4 days ago

Not everyone's body absorbs cholesterol from their diet. I love eggs too!

[–] [email protected] 9 points 3 days ago

0 beans. Trash plate

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago

My dog would have diarrhea for days

[–] [email protected] 1 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

I suspect this some kind of irony or satire like 100% of human diseases would disappear if everyone committed to a starvation / cannibalism diet

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago

Gastronomy ! *****

[–] [email protected] 1 points 4 days ago
