Moderator Guidelines
Moderator Guidelines
- Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
- Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
- When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
- Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
- Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
- Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
- Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
- Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
- Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
- Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
- Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
- Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
- First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
- Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
- No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
- Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
- Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.
Proceeds to scream over several episodes
Yeah the excessive monologuing and several episodes of no action whatsoever pissed 5-year-old me off so bad.
One Punch Man and Sakamoto Days have eased that itch for ridiculously dumb and fun fight scenes without having to wait six episodes in between each one.
That is an issue of the original anime. They had to pad it a lot cause the Manga was still being drawn and they needed to give him more time to do it. Dragonball Kai fixes that and cuts out over 100 episodes in total length. It's actually great if you want to give it a second chance. Pacing is SO MUCH better.
Abridged ftw
yeah one punch man is great, idk about sakamoto days tho, i might watch it (though i probably wont since i'll just forget about it)
I've been watching the "Kai" version which cuts out the bulk of the powering up... there's still a lot
my hero academia remains the most tolerable shounen i've seen since it minimizes the bullshit like this, if they scream it's generally a situation that calls for screaming (and implied to be way shorter than what's shown) and if they shout the name of a move it's because they've got fuckin tape elbows or whatever and they're proud of coming up with a way to make use of that to stop people from dying.
I really like the way power ups were handled in Demon Slayer, it felt much more 'earned' and it was nice to see the consequences of 'powering up' requiring the characters to go through major recovery each time
making a character suffer in order to get a power up is really such a trivially simple and reliable way to make things feel earned and it's kinda baffling it's not used more/better
it's like the hero's journey and other writing tools, it's predictable but nonetheless it just fucking works.
I'm a sucker for an OP protagonist. I love Solo Leveling. Reincarnated as a Slime has some good moments. And of course DBZ is great.
OP protagonists who thinks they're weak has gotta be one of my favorite tropes. My Hero Academia, Demon Slayer, and Overlord (although I haven't finished that one) are all solid
You're gonna love "I parry everything" it's this trope done to perfection
Only 12 episodes? I'll be binging this for this weekend. The title alone has me hooked.
The full title for the light novel is "I parry everything: What do you mean I'm the strongest? I'm not even an adventurer yet!"
I have a feeling you're gonna love it, it really hit the spot for me. Some people find the "OP but doesn't know it" thing annoying but for me it made it so much better. Looking forward to your review
This captures my everything while shitting on the toilet.
Yuu Yuu Hakusho does both incredibly well.
Also: Hokuto no Ken, the 80s version. Other action animes can't hold a candle to Kenshiro.
One day the HxH manga will conclude... I'd be amazing to the the rest animated eventually as well
One day...
Never give up, have faith in Togashi 🙏
Agree, and glad at least YYH got love after that live action reboot hit. Also I no longer hide my cheesy love of that fucking YYH theme song.
Added fun fact, the manga artist creator of YYH married the artist of Sailor Moon, who even helped him a little with Hunter x Hunter. Lol
YYH is great. I gotta give that a watch again
one piece of what?
One piece of deez…you know what? Nevermind.
One piece of my ass!! Wait...
you forgot to reinforce the seats again?!
