"Why are [the Democrats] held in so low esteem?" That's the question that needs asking, he said.

Saved you a click.

I hate Republicans but uh the continued rolling over to show their soft underbelly belly. Cooool 25 hour speech after voting the red spending bill. At least if the Fed was shut down those USAID employees would technically be employed.

But doesn't the executive retain more power during a shutdown? I'm not sure it's the pill that everyone thought it was but I'm happy to have my mind changed.

Yeah. Those guys were openly salivating at the prospect and wishing people like us who hated Schumer well. It was one of those catch 22 situations where the deeper problem is that the GOP and its constituents are culturally aligned, and the Democratic party leaders very much are not aligned with us. While that continues, the left in general can't help but score own goals and get nowhere.

thank you. I checked out the article, and that is really buried.

The question:

So, I think that the Democratic Party has to make a fundamental decision, and I'm not sure that they will make the right decision, which side are they on? [Will] they continue to hustle large campaign contributions from very, very wealthy people, or do they stand with the working class?

Democrats Have to Answer One Key Question

"Where can I find top-quality guillotines at bargain-basement prices?"

[–] Dasus@lemmy.world 4 points 5 days ago

To be honest it's been pretending to be a democracy for a long time.

Now it's just clear for even the ones who didn't believe it before

First of all we need to end the electoral college. Count my vote as one or stop all the fucking commercials about voting.

[–] Infynis@midwest.social 2 points 5 days ago (1 children)

If I remember 4th grade correctly, it's clear that it doesn't work. It was established to prevent an uneducated populace from electing a charismatic strongman, right? The electors didn't even try

Exactly. It was also there to ensure that the minorities would not be over run by the majority. Yet, here we are... Migrants, fuck off! Trans, gay, women, non Christians, and more... Fuck off too! Here we are. The electoral college is a voting rights sham. I much rather get my one vote counted live on a big online counting board that everyone can see as it happens. Voting should be as easy as upvoting here on fedi. And we should have the right to change our mind so we can quick he rid of problems... Elected Trump by mistake? Down vote. No need to protest, down vote is everything. No need for reelection campaigns or polling. Wanna poll? Look at the vote. Just like looking at a Dow Jones ticker we would look at the vote.

It's not even pseudo democratic.
