Explanation: I own one pair of jeans, 4 dresses, 3 sweaters and 3 t-shirts, period. I grab whatever's clean. I buy 1 item of clothing each year from our local thrift shop. Try as I may, I don't give a damn. I used to, but now I just want to forage in peace. It's lovely.

I like your independence
Goth-lite (no makeup or dresses), hippy, grown up grunge (with a bit of cyberpunk). My wardrobe is a palette of greys, black, and dark jewel tones, with bright pops of colour, usually the accessory. Like mustard yellow wool scarf or cherry red gum boots. I definitely like a utilitarian look, but with a twist. For example, my steel toed boots look like leather converse high tops. Prioritize comfortable over fashionable always lol. Lots of natural fibers, I don’t like the feel of synthetic fibers on my skin but do have fleeces and outerwear that are synthetic.
It’s taken me a long time to be comfortable in what I wear, really enjoying it now.

Your clothing sounds really striking! I totally agree on comfort over appearance, for me personally I wont be uncomfortable. I also refuse to be cold to look good. Natural fibres are more green conscious as well.
Yessss, you’re spot on about refusing to be cold to look good. I used to always say as I saw the people downtown in the winter going out to the bars with barely anything on, style knows no temperature. If that’s the case then I’m the most unstylish person ever!

Utility, goth, punk.
Goth and punk are fairly self explanatory. I joke that when I buy new fishnet or lace tights, I position myself as a goth, but then as they get more holes in them (or fewer holes, I suppose, given that a tear in fishnets will merge multiple smaller holes into one larger hole), they become punkier.
Mostly the goth/punk aspects of my style just means I mostly wear black, and that necessitates adding visual interest in some other way, such as textured fabrics (lace, leather, velvet etc.), or embellishments such as spikes.
"Utility" isn't a great word for the other aspects of my style, but I needed to try to describe this component somehow, because it's the part that's probably most notably me. I once had a petticoat made entirely of pockets. I'm a big fan of convertible clothing. I have an underbust corset that I like wearing because it helps to provide support for heavy things around my waist, such as a heavy utility belt thing. I have had less of this cool stuff in recent years, because I need to get back into making stuff, but it's still an aspect of my style

Yes, my every day shoe is a pair of nice stomping boots, they've also got a steel toe and shoelace coded laces. Most of the time I'm wearing jeans and a t-shirt, but many of those shirts are related to anarchy, bicycle repair, and other such things. And when I do put in effort I often like a more vampy look.

Southern bogans wear warmer clothes for obvious reasons.

I’m pretty boyish and minimal in style lol. I like comfortable and low effort. I’ll call it: Grown up grunge?
Like imagine Vans, band tee, flannel, ripped jeans. But instead of ripped jeans, make it black slacks/trousers. Instead of flannel, make it a solid button-up shirt left open.
Mix and match to get the desired balance. For example…
Lug-sole boots instead of sneakers/Converse
Leather bag instead of backpack
Coat, cardigan or blazer instead of flannel
I might pair cargo pants with a collared sweater or slim turtleneck
Etc.

I'm going for unique, alternative and fun. I'm an alt girl, so I'm drawn to that style. I dress quite different, I like patterned tights, clothes with bows and things that most people wouldn't wear. I have great fun with it... I love prints with animals on them, bright colours and outfits that are cheerful and friendly. It really does show my personality a lot!

Ahhh sooo cute!! I love how you decorated those spaces! And honestly yes 🤭 pastel pink and florals in every room. If it's not pink (has to be the right shade too), I don't buy it! Well, I also love a pastel purple, so I mix that in too 💜 I feel like embracing my aesthetic has also made shopping easier; I'm limited on options and don't get so overwhelmed having to consider every color out there.
To make it easier, choose one practical word, (what you typically have in your closet), one aspirational (what you want to incorporate more of), and one emotional (how you want to feel and/or how you want others to feel when they see you).
-Practical word: androgynous - I love outfits that combine elements of masculine and feminine.
-Aspirational word: layered - I love blazers and scarves and sweaters with a collared shirt under. I'm hot natured so this is a tricky one for me, but I've been working it into my style.
-Emotional word: bold - bold colors and prints, things that make me stand out.
I use the Indyx app (free version) to track my wardrobe, plan outfits, and figure out what I don't need to buy.

There are other apps, but this is the one I'm familiar with. It's definitely saved me money. I'll see something I love on poshmark, then add a photo of it to the app. Then I can pair it with stuff I already own to see if it's worthwhile. It's amazing how I often I think something will fit with my wardrobe only to find it clashes with all the bottoms I own, or that I would need to buy a second item to make it work. I also misplaced a ring, and I was able to see which day I wore it, to find which pants I left it in the pocket of. It's a lot of work to photograph everything but it's fun if you're into that sort of thing.
This is really clever. If you get time please do a post on that app! Think a lot of women would find that helpful.

EDIT: here's what I've got, it's like if your depressed autistic aunt were dressing for church? Too many dresses, skirts, floral patterns. I accidentally dress too nicely for the social contexts I'm in (awkward), but everything is dark colors and often dominated by black. Trying to lean into simpler and more casual looks, but this often results in a t-shirt and a skirt that still comes across as church-y, esp. when paired with ballet slips instead of birks.
My sister once described my style as very dark academia, which I get from the 1. darkness, and 2. formality - but I have doubts I pull off a consistent dark academia vibe (though that wouldn't be out of place for me).

Athletic, jeans, comfortable. I do alt-lite (dyed hair, tattoos) but mostly I’m chasing after a toddler and I work as a teacher so 10K steps a day is on the low end for me. I’m not a huge fan of leggings or yoga pants as everyday wear but I like fitted t-shirts
