The thing I find odd about the argument that a power imbalance makes consent impossible is that would make it effectively impossible for any POTUS to have consensual relations except for maybe with other world leaders.

The important point here is that the relationship occurred within the workplace. No one would care if it were just your run of the mill affair. He isn't the first president, nor is he the last, to have one of those.

Oh Republicans would have definitely cared if Clinton had an affair with anyone. They didn't care that Monica was an intern. They wanted to vilify a Democrat.

And honestly it is a big deal if any politician has an affair since it's then a huge vulnerability making them susceptible to coercion and blackmail.
