Rules (2024-08-30)
- This is an English-language community. Comments should be in English. Posts can link to non-English news sources when providing a full-text translation in the post description. Automated translations are fine, as long as they don't overly distort the content.
- No links to misinformation or commercial advertising. When you post outdated/historic articles, add the year of publication to the post title. Infographics must include a source and a year of creation; if possible, also provide a link to the source.
- Be kind to each other, and argue in good faith. Don't post direct insults nor disrespectful and condescending comments. Don't troll nor incite hatred. Don't look for novel argumentation strategies at Wikipedia's List of fallacies.
- No bigotry, sexism, racism, antisemitism, islamophobia, dehumanization of minorities, or glorification of National Socialism. We follow German law; don't question the statehood of Israel.
- Be the signal, not the noise: Strive to post insightful comments. Add "/s" when you're being sarcastic (and don't use it to break rule no. 3).
- If you link to paywalled information, please provide also a link to a freely available archived version. Alternatively, try to find a different source.
- Light-hearted content, memes, and posts about your European everyday belong in other communities.
- Don't evade bans. If we notice ban evasion, that will result in a permanent ban for all the accounts we can associate with you.
- No posts linking to speculative reporting about ongoing events with unclear backgrounds. Please wait at least 12 hours. (E.g., do not post breathless reporting on an ongoing terror attack.)
- Always provide context with posts: Don't post uncontextualized images or videos, and don't start discussions without giving some context first.
(This list may get expanded as necessary.)

(Lists may get expanded as necessary.)
Ban lengths, etc.
We will use some leeway to decide whether to remove a comment.
If need be, there are also bans: 3 days for lighter offenses, 7 or 14 days for bigger offenses, and permanent bans for people who don't show any willingness to participate productively. If we think the ban reason is obvious, we may not specifically write to you.
If you want to protest a removal or ban, feel free to write privately to the primary mod account @EuroMod@feddit.org

I'd rather a few sports events become "unfair" than a much larger group of people remain invalidated by the society they live in just for wanting to be comfortable existing.
But that's not even what happens. Trans women are allowed to compete in women's categories at Olympia for years now. You can finger count the examples of successful trans athletes.
I hope you stub your toe.
/s dropped that. Still a stupid comment as it ain't funny.
How's this fucking CLOWN not had this comment deleted yet?
Sports really isnโt that important compared to other issues. You were the one who brought it up.
But this is also a non-issue because trans women are underperfoming in sports and in many cases they actually have disadvantages, e.g. because of testosterone levels that are often lower than those of cis women.
And even if there was an advantage, thatโs just how literally all of sports works. Do you want to ban cis women who are tall or have naturally high testosterone? Should Michael Phelps be banned because he has a biological advantage?
Biologically speaking, this debate remains stupid. Also, all females are biological.
A lot of confusion seems to stem from people thinking that allowing transwomen means a lot of men would just sign up into women's sports. Which of course is a not a very good take if you know anything about transitioning (and in money making levels you wouldn't be allowed into women's sports without being on hormones likely for years anyway) and it's effects on the body. Even without talking about dysphoria, you can't just go forwards and backwards with transitioning without having some major physical consequences
You never see people like this advocating for banning Michael Phelps from competitive swimming. He has 'unfair' genetic advantages รฎn lung capacity and lactic acid production.
The day that is seriously considered is the day I might take them slightly more seriously.
or that guy that could run non-stop for hours on end with a similar condition to phelps
You view this entirely from the perspective of sport? It's not about sport it is about human rights.
Ngl, it'll only be for the better If state-backed sport competitions would finally start to die out because of that. The big sports industry is a huge waste of money, that only cripples people.
Tell me you know jackshit about biology without telling me you know jackshit about biology.
So you chose to confirm you have no idea of biology, especially HRT and transitioning. Or sports.
Says the person who chose to bring transphobic talking points into a post about political news positive for trans people. Fuck off.
You have been banned from European communities in the past for "Update ban reason with evidence of Zionist apologia" and "Zionist" I believe thats all people need to know about you + getting me banned in unrelated communities (your behavior proves my point, thank you).
*This is the truth, look in the logs.
Hmm...
Fuck off, transphobe.
