A second poll has hit the site:

Support for January 26 has climbed steadily in the past three years in exclusive polls for this masthead conducted by Resolve Political Monitor.

Support for changing the date has declined rapidly from 39 per cent in January 2023 to 16 per cent of respondents, while the number who are neutral or undecided has remained more or less the same.

Yeah these things are definitely trends. I don't think the date needs to change but I do think we should be aware of everything that's happened since. Some of the worst ever treatment of people and actual completed genocides, not in the sense that we stopped doing it because we realised how inhumane it was, but in the sense that every last member of a culture was eradicated. Celebrate the day, have a beer with your mates, all I want is for the typical Australian to be conscious of our history.

We get that by changing the purpose of the date, and picking a new one to actually celebrate, I reckon
