Churu is the fucking real deal. I have this cat that has already lost a kidney and the other is very bad, he was very very skinny and I tried all kinds of treats and tasty things for him to eat, he spent three days getting IV fluids in the vet and the vet said he liked Churu so I bought it... anyway, this was three years ago, the last time we did a blood test and his creatinine wouldn't fall below 5. He is still alive, the motherfucker is even chubby, he is moved by Churu, I think he is only alive so he can have more Churu, we give him from 4 to 7 everyday... I don't even dare to do a blood test again, how he has no clinical symptoms of his severe kidney failure after so many years and still has shining fur is crazy
This is Dali, he is 15.
Aww! We also learned of Churu because of our elder kitty. She passed last year, 20+yrs old. It ended up becoming her only meals aside from meds/supplements. It made me glad to see her still enjoying things and having energy to get around unlike when we were just using the rx food, which she didn't like.
Dorito Princess
I'm sorry for your loss. She was gorgeous. RIP Churu queen
Well how about you shut up right now because I love him
I would literally die for Dali
not before me, you won't!
mf is already making me hostile. Look at his power stance
I would like to apply for a housecat position, I will be happy with just 5 treats a day, plus lunch and dinner. I can also meow at you for seemingly no reason, and run around the house in the middle of the night. I can push things off of surfaces as well, though rarely just to keep things exciting.
Can you do subQ fluids at home? That, plus a low phosphorus diet, can really help! Tanya's feline CRF page has a lot of good info on it.
I started with subcutaneous but after some time it wasn't putting a dent on creatinine levels so I went to intravenous once a week, but then he developed phlebitis, so I changed to once every two weeks and alternating between front and back legs (he is not dehydrated btw). He won't eat anything but Churu now, and I will never introduce another cat to Churu because they go crazy and then you can't give anything else lol - I tried cheaper local brands, other cats absolutely loved when he didn't even try so I gave it to them :P

I have another cat with kidney problems and she is on a low phosphorus diet already, but him? He doesn't even try to taste it
It looks like you've got a really good handle on his issues then - I wish all of you long, healthy and happy lives together :)
