A U.S. citizen on her way to a medical appointment in Minneapolis was dragged out of her car and detained by immigration officers, according to a statement released by the woman on Thursday, after a video of her arrest drew millions of views on social media.

Aliya Rahman said she was brought to a detention centre where she was denied medical care and lost consciousness. The Department of Homeland Security said she was an agitator who was obstructing ICE agents conducting arrests in the area.

That video is the latest in a deluge of online content that documents an intensifying immigration crackdown across the midwestern city, as thousands of federal agents make arrests amid protests against what local officials have likened to a "federal invasion."

Rahman says she was on her way to a routine appointment at the Traumatic Brain Injury Center when she encountered federal immigration agents at an intersection. Video appears to show agents shouting commands over a cacophony of whistles, car horns and screams from protesters.

yup...can run the numbers, he won the popular vote. the "palestine or nothing" people are a drop in the bucket

the overwhelming majority of the country doesn't have the privilege of caring about people outside their immediate bubble...they're too busy living paycheck to paycheck

don't run on "nothing will fundamentally change" if you want americans to vote for you, simple as. maybe also don't run fucking republicans endorsements during the DNC...

i'm honestly not sure what's worse, if establishment dems are largely just controlled opposition or if they're really just this incompetent

100%. “Everything’s fine, stop complaining” wasn’t a good platform in 2016. Or 2020. Or 2024.

Donald walked through a door that liberal democrats opened.

TWICE.

Trump lost the popular vote in 2016 and 2020 and still was below 50% in 2024 AND his policies never got support from a majority ever when presented without a name.

There has never been a majority who has liked anything he had to offer.

This was a propaganda war from racist wealthy assholes who bought out a ton of the companies controlling the media landscape. They exploited bullshit election rules and lied and bribed and extorted to suppress resistance, all just so they could be assholes in public without being called in it.

So he’s incredibly unpopular.

And he’s beat democrats two out of the last thee tries.

Do. The. Math.

If you asked people about their policies and literally absolutely anything they wanted to do, and hid the names, Trump always lost because he is MORE unpopular

Media helped Trump steal credit for things others did, instill fear of things his opponents never would do, etc. Nobody lost to Trump by being a worse candidate, but because media refused to be honest and people believed the lies

they wanted to use the threat of fascism to earn free votes, even though they tried that in virginia in 2021 and it failed miserably.

a lot of it comes down to that they're more convinced by their consultants what works than by the evidence of what works. and their consultants all come from a class of people who make more money the closer an election is to 50/50
