Is it just that the lady being recirded is trying to give a clever answer "poisson" because it's already under water and maybe because it rhymes with boisson, but then the cameraman is just giving a straightforward answer (a zebu)?

Sorry about all the Instagram videos, it's about all I get my French content right now. I can stop if it bothers Lemmy users , or at least try to transcribe it instead.

Transcription

Woman 1: Quel animal n’a jamais soif?

Woman 2: Le poisson. [unintelligible for me, perhaps: C’est pas?]

Woman 1: Le zébu.

Posting instagram content is to be honest not very inclusive. You are nowadays required to have their app/an account to view the content. There are many reasons not to want that, privacy at the forefront of these.

I totally agree with these points (and upvoted ;) ).

... But the alternative for OP would be to not post their question here at all. They would have been encouraged to stay on their platform / post on another monolithic platform that is more instagram-friendly. IMO, this works against Lemmy adoption.

From the perspective of a new/casual user still strongly embedded in the bigger platforms, it creates a hurdle - they have to decide whether their post will be considered "legal" here. What is effectively asked of them is to not only make the jump to Lemmy, but also from Instagram to e.g. Pixelfed, which imo is not quite there yet, or to keep their question to themselves.

Of course it's a matter of weighing pros and cons, and again, I agree with your points, but we've reached different conclusions.

I would change my view if we were flooded with these Instagram "crossposts", but [Edit:] this is still to be seen.
