You already messed up talking to the officer in the first place.
Unless you called the cops don't talk to them. There is literally nothing you can say without possibly incriminating yourself.
Life or death? Talk to save someone otherwise seriously shut up.
If you have a problem and call the police, now you have two problems.
I tend to agree, but I have had a few times in my life I have. Obvious drunk driver, guy beating up his girlfriend, and two brothers shooting at each other in the trailer park.
