That was back when politicians actually felt shame.
Was it shame, or the system actually holding corrupt politicians accountable? I miss those days.
And all he did was take a bribe to give a sweetheart deal to a tech company.
Today's politicians do more criminal shit than that before they've had breakfast!!
I actually thought he did it so the family wouldnt lose anything. Since he never resigned wouldnt the family also have received benefits from his death. Maybe im wrong, but I felt like I read that a while back.
This happens in the developing world on occasion, with the assumption is that insurance pays out to the family. I'm 99% sure doing the deed yourself means it doesn't pay out at all. Tragic all the way down.
Except that this time it did pay out. The money didn't come from life insurance, it came from his pension which would've been lost had he lived and been convicted
Ah - that's my bad, I forgot civilized places in the world had pension still and not speculative con jobs where we prop up the private industry via the stock market with retirement money.
