There's a surprisingly large number of (new) Corvettes in my region, so you wouldn't have to look long. However, they are mostly owned by middle aged white men who like to speed (but not enough to warrant having a sports car).

Nobody should be driving crazy enough to need a sports car on public roads. That's insanely stupid to do. If they can afford the sports car, they can afford some track days.

Sports car doesn't mean that in America. It just means a sporty cart. Like a flashy midlife crisis car.

My sentiment remains the same. Those cars have plenty of performance to get in to trouble on public roads.

Track days are not expensive unless you completely turf your car, so even the advice remains completely valid. Don't drive like a jackass on public roads. Period.

Every car in America is too powerful.

Audi A3 has at least 2.5l engine. Why? Fuck knows.

[–] MotoAsh@piefed.social 3 points 3 days ago (1 children)

Either way, having a powerful engine shouldn't excuse someone driving like a jackass. Hilarious people are downvoting being a responsible human being.

Absolutely no question about that.

But even slow drivers are dicks.

Maybe we should abolish cars altogether.

Would be nice to at least get some more public transit investment!

This may come as a shock to you, but one can drive a sports car not like a jackass. Statistically, the vast majority of drivers of sports cars drive them completely normally.

Nowhere did I ever say someone who owns such a vehicle is obligated to drive like a jackass.

When I had my corvette I was sniffing rails off the cover of a CD driving 100+mph everyday..

Where I live it seems that all the Corvettes are owned by young men who live with their parents. Shitty jobs and their whole paycheck goes to the car's bank note.

You probably live in an affluent area because that's some rich people shit

Rich kids get their cars bought for them by their parents and it's not usually a Corvette. A $90K car with no down would have a monthly payment of $1500 or thereabouts, just barely affordable for a young person with a shitty job. Having your puny net worth tied up in a sad "super" car is definitely poor people shit.
