Someone once pointed out that in this meme, the gate controller is shouting commands to himself. Now I can't unsee it, and neither should you.
The gate has at least two chains, he's operating one chain and shouting to the person operating the chain on the other side.
perhaps operating the gate is a multi person job and they're commanding the others
Walter Harriman manages just fine on his own though!
