Comic Strips is a community for those who love comic stories.
The rules are simple:
- The post can be a single image, an image gallery, or a link to a specific comic hosted on another site (the author's website, for instance).
- The comic must be a complete story.
- If it is an external link, it must be to a specific story, not to the root of the site.
- You may post comics from others or your own.
- If you are posting a comic of your own, a maximum of one per week is allowed (I know, your comics are great, but this rule helps avoid spam).
- The comic can be in any language, but if it's not in English, OP must include an English translation in the post's 'body' field (note: you don't need to select a specific language when posting a comic).
- Politeness.
- AI-generated comics aren't allowed.
- Adult content is not allowed. This community aims to be fun for people of all ages.

Not if US fascism continues to reign for the next 50 years. Then she will proudly brag to her grandchildren that she was among the pioneers who supported the Great Leader in his early struggles against decadent Western socialism. And her grandchildren will listen in awe and wonder at how brave their grandmother was in fighting to get rid of all the socialist islamist terrorists.
I believe that the climate will get the last laugh.
Nah, that's micro plastics, but the climate will get us most of the way there
Fascism is inherently self-destructive, so that won't happen. But the collapse will cost a lot of human lives.
Is it though? Mussolini ruled in Italy 21 years, Hitler ruled for 15. And the reason both of them fell was on account of the very concerted effort of an extremely powertul alliance of foreign powers waging unrelenting war against them both for years. Otherwise they would have ruled to their natural deaths, and their heirs would have taken over.
What happened during WWII is not a scenario which is likely to occur in present day US. There is no powerful alliance going to wage unrelenting war against the US fascist government. On the contrary China and Russia applauds what is going on.
Your comment is a good example of why history doesn't repeat itself, even though much of it is very recognisable.
I can't speak for Italy, but Nazi Germany would have collapsed anyway. The whole system was entirely dependent on lots of foreign lending that Hitler had no Intention on paying back. He had also pissed off pretty much all international trade partners.
Germans as a whole were a lot worse off than before Hitler gained power, working a lot more for a lot less, with shortages of everyday goods left and right.
Trumps literally on deaths door and is the #1 suspect in what's likely the largest conspiracy in US history involving child traffickers and their political protectors.
He's been in US politics the last 10 years.
He's run his course. And no one is left to replace him.
He's also killed millions with his Covid policy. Millions more with USAID defunding. And now likely even more with SNAP and ACA cuts.
He also likely won by cheating, not by popularity.
He's just about cooked from every angle imaginable and is not long for this world.
Fascist regimes never last 50 years.
Before someone says "Franco", no. Even Orwell had doubts about Franco being a real fascist, and historians since then trend the same way.
Why does fascist regimes never last 50 years? Because a powerful alliance of countries relentlessly vanquish them, historically. No such powerful alliance is present today. You should not make historical rules of whay is not rules at all. You have learnt the wrong lesson from history.
That's not the only reason it can't last. From Umberto Eco's Ur-Fascisim:
And also:
Since it can never be at peace, it constantly needs to create an enemy. The worst thing that can happen is defeating that enemy. It still has to have an enemy to focus on, or else people start to notice that the leaders have no idea how to solve actual problems.
So it needs to create a new enemy, but to do that, they have to carve one out of the existing population. This means the "acceptable" people shrink each cycle. It doesn't take long before the "enemies" make up too much of the population to be sustainable.
Another reason is the mechanics of cult of personalities. They rarely survive their leader. Mormon's and Scientology are often cited as examples, but they're the exception. There's thousands of little cults nobody has ever heard of that dissolve when the leader dies.
Hitler had maybe three to five decades of natural life left when he took the Chancellorship. That's the longest it could possibly have lasted. Trump doesn't have that. He has maybe one decade left, and that's pushing it.
