Coming here to argue about voting will result in a ban.

Every day I am forced to confront that the the Democratic Party won the White House and Congress in 2020 and instead of doing the smart thing and ending the filibuster, packing the court, and going scorched Earth on the GOP which, mind you, had just tried to overthrow the election, they kicked back and proceeded to do absolutely nothing of note except cut a blank check for the most televised genocide of the last 30 years.

A disciplined party could have un-fucked everything trump did in the span of a few month, but they chose not to. They chose not to, and now we're all paying for it.

The purpose of a system is what it does.

this is more like blaming a judge for not locking up a known serial killer

[–] MourningDove@lemmy.zip -4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

No, it’s not. Using your example- it’s like blaming the victim for fitting the profile of the serial killer’s M.O.

[–] _AutumnMoon_@lemmy.blahaj.zone 6 points 1 week ago (1 children)

they are not the victim, they had the power to intervene and chose not to

if you are a judge and you are brought evidence of a serial killer murdering people, and instead of convicting them you let them go free, it is your fault if they murder more people. You did nothing to stop them when you were handed the chance to

Bad analogy. That assumes that they caught them doing this before and allowed it to continue. Roe v Wade was the door that was left unlocked.

See, the difference is that my analogy actually makes sense to the subject being discussed, yours creates an entirely different scenario that is easier for you to argue.

It’s called a straw man.

We did catch them. That's literally what the post is about, we saw all the horrible things trump did in his first term, we got the chance to stop him in 2020, but nobody did anything. And now hes doing even more horrible things what a fucking surprise

[–] MourningDove@lemmy.zip -3 points 1 week ago (1 children)

And you can guarantee that third party candidates would have done differently?

[–] _AutumnMoon_@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I never said they would have. We need to hold people accountable regardless of party, that is the only way to achieve change

[–] MourningDove@lemmy.zip -2 points 1 week ago

On that we can agree.

Your analogy doesn’t make sense.

[–] MourningDove@lemmy.zip -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

I expected it wouldn’t from your perspective.

[–] athatet@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You have no idea what my perspective is. This is the first time we have interacted.

[–] MourningDove@lemmy.zip -1 points 1 week ago (1 children)

You’re in defense of shifting the blame for the results of what conservatives do on to the democrats.

That’s all I need to know.

All I said was your analogy didn’t make sense.

And that may very well be the case but instead of explaining it you immediately got mad at me for shit I did not do.
