Cause HES are eejits! Rockfall has been a feature of the path for centuries. Stick up some signs and tear down the gates. This isn't a hard thing to do!

Probably means that out of 4886 occasions of rocks falling down, one will kill a person, 4885 just land without causing death

And given there are minor falls maybe weekly it still means that 1 death in 100 years. Maybe.

Total nonsense to do barriers and fences. Just open the road!

And when that death happens, who pays out the lawsuit? Since HES is responsible for the area their lawyers have likely said the liability is too high.

I get it, it's dumb, and actually easily fixed with proper mesh installed, but that also costs money.

Nobody pays. Who pays in a rockfall on any other mountain? Land ownership is complicated in Scotland, but a right to roam means a personal safety responsibility. HES should be under no obligation for any deaths, just like the Duke of Sutherland (or whichever owner) isn't if you go climbing Lochnagar
