The Agora
In the spirit of the Ancient Greek Agora, we invite you to join our vibrant community - a contemporary meeting place for the exchange of ideas, inspired by the practices of old. Just as the Agora served as the heart of public life in Ancient Athens, our platform is designed to be the epicenter of meaningful discussion and thought-provoking dialogue.
Here, you are encouraged to speak your mind, share your insights, and engage in stimulating discussions. This is your opportunity to shape and influence our collective journey, just like the free citizens of Athens who gathered at the Agora to make significant decisions that impacted their society.
You're not alone in your quest for knowledge and understanding. In this community, you'll find support from like-minded individuals who, like you, are eager to explore new perspectives, challenge their preconceptions, and grow intellectually.
Remember, every voice matters and your contribution can make a difference. We believe that through open dialogue, mutual respect, and a shared commitment to discovery, we can foster a community that embodies the democratic spirit of the Agora in our modern world.

No, leave blocking to the user.
EDIT Crazy question. What did they do to get defederated? No really. Did they broke an rule or what. The only reason I know of them is due the post. I have a feeling that's true for 99% of you. So we are defederating from a instance. Majority of users never heard of for what reason. No one can give a good reason to defederate. Outside of reee right-wingers. Is what a good reason to do a instance wide defederation of the instance?
EDIT 2 By the looks of it. The admins are going to do a instance wide defederation of the instance for no good reason given. If they do that to a instance. Can they do same to an user? Ban an user without a good reason given. Just because the mob cries for it. Really makes you think.
Look me in the eyes:
Yes.
Don't platform Nazis.
Dude, you seriously need to get yourself deprogrammed.
These people are not your friends. If you aren't a billionaire you are fodder.
Well yeah, the admins can ban a user if they feel like it. It’s literally their website.
that's your reasoning, yet you're for defederating from "fascists"
The Holocaust is when I can't use a website. >:(
Pretty silly thing to say. Nobody has to allow you to have an account on their private Lemmy server. They’re not banning anyone from all of Lemmy and can’t do so. If you don’t like their policies and they don’t like you, go somewhere else. Also, I have not made any statement about the defederation proposal.
You don't think that MAGA ideology meets the criteria?
Exactement!
And if you are the kind of bar owner who says to the patrons: "just ignore the nazi punks in the corner if you don't like them, or go argue with them, I don't care!" -- then maybe you have a nazi bar. If you're the owner of a nazi bar, are you embodying conviviality? Tolerance?
Please research "the paradox of tolerance".
i think i wasn't clear enough in my previous comment. My comment was about the "Well yeah, the admins can ban a user if they feel like it. It’s literally their website." mentality.
Admins too should adhere to community rules and they shouldn't be able to ban users because "they feel like it".
Whole MAGA approach to politics is "we're doing it because we feel like it." No coherence, no intelligible reasons, no accountability. Just a "feel like it".
i'm not criticising admins either. This post shows that they don't act on a "feel like it" and they're polling the user base.
i''ve been online long enough to know that communities/sites belong to users even when servers and domains belong to a person. Every time an "owner" of a community website started to act like users are tolerated guests on their servers, the whole community degenerated and dried up.
and that's why i'm hopeful about fediverse.

Well yes, that comment did require you to be quite explicit, thanks!
Reasons have been given. But you won't listen.
