So I kept seeing the memes and identifying with them, until I started asking you questions, which lead to asking how to get diagnosed. And after a visit to the neuro and a questionnaire later, I've joined the club. TBH, it lifted a weight off my shoulders.

I will begin treatment as soon as the damned insurance clears the request for medicine. I'm hopeful about the future.

Where are you from? I've got mixed messages about whether the questionnaires and stuff are "official," despite the fact that they've given me meds. I assume you haven't been given a certificate or anything?

I think doctors can prescribe some of the meds "off label" for other, ADHD-adjacent symptoms, which makes it a lot easier to get you the meds since the way to get an actual "official" diagnosis is often onerous.

If they're being vague, it could just be because it's kind of a grey area and they're doing it for your benefit. It's probably better that you don't know.

I'm not an expert though, this is just what I've gathered from my experiences in the US.

They're giving me METH. "Amphetamine salts" is the official name. I was impressed at how easy the whole thing was. A pathetically easy to cheat questionnaire and I had access to a small amount of hard drugs. Or will have, once the insurance clerk deems the PA worthy.

BTW I generally avoid medication unless I must take them, and have insomnia just by drinking coffee in the morning, so I'm not looking forward for the stimulant effect. But if that calms down the inner attention monkey, I'll try.

"Amphetamine salts" is Adderall, not meth. Same family, but meth is like supercharged and way more euphoric apparently.

You're right, it was just hyperbole.

No certificate. I was diagnosed in the US of A.

I'm in California and they've been super vague with me. Anyway I'm happy for you!

I'm Canadian, but I was diagnosed with a 15 minute phone call with my GP. Granted, I have professional training in this area, and had examples prepared to match DSM criteria, but adult diagnosis can be very straightforward.
