Overview:

The community dedicated to boycotting the US until they stop fascism, restore full democracy and start following international law.

Americans have a moral obligation to resist Donald Trump and project 2025 at every turn.

America is a flawed democracy currently being ruled by oligarchs. Stop the backslide! Dont let America become the next Hungary.

America needs to challenge the court rulings of citizens united v. fec and shelby county v. holder, protect the media, implement independent district drawing, and the single transferable vote so they don't end up having people stay home in life-changing elections because they cannot vote for their favourite candidate.

Apart from the obvious "arresting a senator for asking questions" thing, is whatever's happening on this picture standard procedure for arresting an unarmed, unthreatening person in the US? It looks like they're arresting a terrorist or a dangerous suspect

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 118 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

No normally. I think they throw a knee on the neck for 9 to 10 minutes.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 31 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Got to do it for the officer's safety, asshole!

Have you thought about the blue lives?!

[–] KingJalopy@lemm.ee 11 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

Thought about it. Still wanna grab em by the throat stab them.

Or whatever that Eminem song said

[–] P00ptart@lemmy.world 3 points 3 weeks ago

Oh man, that was guilty conscience and I think technically it was a dre song.

Have you thought about the blue lives?!

I have. In their current state, they are at the bottom of the list of lives that I care about, with every other living organism on the planet above them. If they work to remove the corrupt, fascist, and clearly unregulated members and leadership from their ranks, then I will reevaluate, until then they can stay there.

[–] stebo02@sopuli.xyz 15 points 3 weeks ago

that's their technique for arresting black people

[–] MangioneDontMiss@lemmy.ca 53 points 3 weeks ago (3 children)

not 100% standard. but yeah, pretty standard. If its a rich white dude, generally the arrests are a lot gentler.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 3 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

that rich white dude better respect the authorita, boy

[–] MangioneDontMiss@lemmy.ca 1 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

the rich white dude is the authorita.

[–] sunzu2@thebrainbin.org 1 points 3 weeks ago

Not the one running that mouth, technically that's an ally

Authorities are claiming they were unable to know who he was at the time, and treated him as a potential threat.

[–] Bakkoda@sh.itjust.works 45 points 3 weeks ago (2 children)

You are going to get to hear that kind of verbiage a lot over the next few years

[–] DrDeadCrash@programming.dev 16 points 3 weeks ago (1 children)

They were only following orders

Fucking hate cop talk. The language they use in their reports is disgusting. They probably have a template that they just slightly modify. Template is already full of lies.

[–] Coldcell@sh.itjust.works 2 points 3 weeks ago

Of course they have a template, cops can barely read or write, they wouldn't be able to report anything without serious hand-holding.

He stood up and announced he was a US Senator. The very first thing he did was identify himself. If they're deaf then they shouldn't be on active duty outside a desk job.

I'd like to hear (from the Authorities) what identified him particularly as a threat amongst all the other people in the room.

[–] drunkpostdisaster@lemmy.world 2 points 3 weeks ago

This is almost copy pasted from the shit they actually re saying.

[–] ayyy@sh.itjust.works 8 points 3 weeks ago

The standard procedure involves metal hitting the back of the skull until enough blood comes out that the victim can’t remember what happened.

[–] arin@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago

They shoot to kill the latter two

[–] Jimmycakes@lemmy.world 4 points 3 weeks ago* (last edited 3 weeks ago)

When 99% of the police is weaker fatter and more out of shape than the "criminal" this is how they have to do it or everyone would just escape. Handcuff fat ass has the arm rotation of a dollar store action figure and is already out of breath from having to bend down. You can see it in the video.

Their training tells them that everyone is a dangerous suspect.

guilty of terrorism until proven innocent
