Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.
5. Only recent news is allowed.
Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.
6. All posts must be news articles.
No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.
7. No duplicate posts.
If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.
8. Misinformation is prohibited.
Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.
9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.
All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.
10. Don't copy entire article in your post body
For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

I'm not one for conspiracy theories but I do look at as many angles as I can think of. This seems like a perfect opportunity to settle out of court and thus funnel millions of tax dollars to a militia that will serve trump to the end.
I'm 100% convinced these Nazi militias make up the majority of the "ICE agents" we're seeing. That's why they don't identify themselves. These fuckers deserve anything they get.

There are people who agree that guns are bad and they are disarming themselves. There are people who disagree and are arming themselves. It just so happens they also support the current govt.
If you could go back 40 years ago and change so many things, sure taking guns away seems like a good call. It is not to anyone that actually understands reality.
In 2022 every ideologically driven mass killing in the U.S. was carried out by the far right with an overwhelming number being carried out by white supremacists. In 2025 to date, every ideologically driven mass killing has been from the far right (this is no different than 2024, I have not looked at 2023 but I'm willing to bet the answer is the same). School shooters are overwhelmingly conservative.
You're right about them being cowards, you're wrong about them being unwilling to use them. You're right that there won't be revolutions, there will be massacres. They are waiting for the green light from their overlords that allows them to, legally, kill you.

I'm sorry, I must be living in a schziophrenic delusion and the U.S. federal govt hasn't been slip and sliding into the deep end of the fascism pool and definitely hasn't been dumping resources and manpower (MAGA, let's be honest with each other - ICE is MAGA) into ICE. Thank God, that would be horrifying!
I'm talking about my cousin. He runs a grocery store (he claims he owns it, but really he leases it through Grocery Outlet).
I know some of the things he's done. I know many of the things he's said. They are terrifying.
Yeah it's bizarre, I'm not sure if that's the correct verbage for it but the situation is effectively leasing. He does not own the store despite being the name and face on the sign saying 'store owner'.
He's got connections, cops love him. My friend has video of him kicking the ever loving shit out of a homeless guy a few years ago. He also helped him delete it. I've told him to turn him in but he's afraid that something will go wrong and it'll turn back around on him.
I have considered it, and I've asked my friend for a copy of the recording. He refuses to send it to me, for the reasons I've listed. I'm also concerned that some of other things I'm aware of would destroy other members of our family (Not MAGA, he ends up being the only MAGAt in the family. Oddly as well - his mother ended up living with an immigrant from Mexico.).
I would be suspicious that the video ever existed, if it weren't for my cousin bragging about defending his house by firing off rounds at a moving car he deemed 'filled with gang bangers'. Fortunately he didn't harm anyone, he just put a few holes in his neighbors car and broke their window. No punishment, as you can probably guess.
My family is also entirely convinced that he's a great man. None of them seem to recognize what he actually is, and this seems pretty consistent across all the people I've met who know him (yes he had me convinced as well).
Genuinely - simply talking about it makes me sick. I am conflicted, at my core. I understand that guns simply make the world a more dangerous place, especially assault weapons. I am under no illusion that 'good guy with gun stop bad guy with gun'. If that were the true, either I or someone else would have shot my cousin by now.
I'm sorry if I was hostile towards you, or really anyone else in this thread. I understand that their responses are filtered through the immediate assumption that I must be a fascist 'dunking on the libs', because I've chosen a topic that MAGA have ingrained into their ideology. I don't hate them, or you, for it — believe it or not, I am genuinely afraid for each and every one of you.

Edit: look into ideologically driven murders in the U.S., then look at ICE getting 20k more troops and natl guard deployed to LA. Look at the toys they have and tell me your hunting rifle is going to do anything when they have fucking tanks and riot armor.

I think gun ownership and political ideology are a venn diagram and trying to generalize it is just dumb. It's also very regional. I live in upstate NY, belong to a rod and gun club and politics do come up but very few people present them as identity.
Good thing the NRA are there to imply the right to bear arms against foreign enemies and kings as is their argument every single time. Perhaps they will implement it now. Perfect opportunity.
