General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in !casualuk@feddit.uk or !andfinally@feddit.uk
More serious politics should go in !uk_politics@feddit.uk.

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

And I'm never voting Labour again. You mother fuckers

That's fine if there is a viable alternative in your district. If none of them align with this one stance then it's basically a non-issue.

Hello overton window, see you're still ever encroaching rightward

Lmfao, the Tories lost 251 seats in the last election.

And labour has decided to pick up as yet another tory government

And you're justifying setting back transgender civil rights. There's a thing called winning the battle and still losing the war, mate

[–] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Transgender civil rights are exactly where they were before if not better off than under the conservatives.

No, dafuck? Keir did more harm than any other PM in history to trans folks. The most friendly PMs were Cameron and May - who as right-wingers were still going for Self-ID.

Keir has not only not challenged the ruling that makes it illegal to have trans men and women go to any bathroom and even a violation of the equality act if a trans person makes someone uncomfortable by existing if a business chooses to accommodate them, but is now enforcing it within his own party by desperately trying to score culture war points with people who'll never vote for him anyway.

I was a defender of his a few months back but he's a spineless coward, he should've stuck with the WFA cut, kept nationalising and waiting for economic indicators to improve while tackling immigration and then it's up to fate.

The Tories are dead. Reform will win the next election.
