Welcome to the News community!

Rules:

1. Be civil

Attack the argument, not the person. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Good faith argumentation only. This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban. Do not respond to rule-breaking content; report it and move on.

2. All posts should contain a source (url) that is as reliable and unbiased as possible and must only contain one link.

Obvious biased sources will be removed at the mods’ discretion. Supporting links can be added in comments or posted separately but not to the post body. Sources may be checked for reliability using Wikipedia, MBFC, AdFontes, GroundNews, etc.

3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.

Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.

4. Post titles should be the same as the article used as source. Clickbait titles may be removed.

Posts which titles don’t match the source may be removed. If the site changed their headline, we may ask you to update the post title. Clickbait titles use hyperbolic language and do not accurately describe the article content. When necessary, post titles may be edited, clearly marked with [brackets], but may never be used to editorialize or comment on the content.

5. Only recent news is allowed.

Posts must be news from the most recent 30 days.

6. All posts must be news articles.

No opinion pieces, Listicles, editorials, videos, blogs, press releases, or celebrity gossip will be allowed. All posts will be judged on a case-by-case basis. Mods may use discretion to pre-approve videos or press releases from highly credible sources that provide unique, newsworthy content not available or possible in another format.

7. No duplicate posts.

If an article has already been posted, it will be removed. Different articles reporting on the same subject are permitted. If the post that matches your post is very old, we refer you to rule 5.

8. Misinformation is prohibited.

Misinformation / propaganda is strictly prohibited. Any comment or post containing or linking to misinformation will be removed. If you feel that your post has been removed in error, credible sources must be provided.

9. No link shorteners or news aggregators.

All posts must link to original article sources. You may include archival links in the post description. News aggregators such as Yahoo, Google, Hacker News, etc. should be avoided in favor of the original source link. Newswire services such as AP, Reuters, or AFP, are frequently republished and may be shared from other credible sources.

10. Don't copy entire article in your post body

For copyright reasons, you are not allowed to copy an entire article into your post body. This is an instance wide rule, that is strictly enforced in this community.

The car bombing outside a California fertility clinic that killed one person and injured four others appears to have been driven by anti-natalist ideology, according to two senior law enforcement officials briefed on the incident.

The suspect, identified by authorities as Guy Edward Bartkus, is believed to have carried out Saturday's explosion, which resulted in his own death.

Investigators are focusing on social media posts made by the suspect, including a 30-minute audio recording, which they say support anti-natalist views. While the posts and the recording are still being verified, officials believe they reflect the ideology behind the bombing. Anti-natalism refers to the belief that no one should have children.

Not producing more children when so many are abandoned and the planet is dying is morally superior to people who create extra lives in the same situation.

My wife and I have decided we don't want kids. We're telling them tonight. Badum-tish.

I saw a comment like this years ago. Its why I called it that the child free movement would create radical idiots like in the article. Radical idiots usually require an assumption of moral superiority.

Radical idiots who commit suicide?

I'm sorry but you get 0 hate from me when society makes you snap but you still care enough not to actually hurt others

Maybe get mad about mass shooters instead of who FOX tells you to?

[–] pahlimur@lemmy.world 0 points 9 months ago (1 children)

Wut? Suicide doesn't exclude radical idiots, probably more inclusive.

I'm not saying being child free is a bad thing. The problem with the movement is it overlaps with the same group that co-opted the incel movement. Involuntary celibacy started as a support group that slowly morphed into a hate group. Child free has very similar vibes to early incel behavior imo.

There's no problem with the movement

The problem is with you and the propaganda you internalized.

Trying to link antinatalism and incels is some seriously pathetic mental gymnastics

Im one of the people that broke free of the propaganda you're assuming consumes me. Was raised on fox News and educated myself out of it.

There is no problem with the child free movement or whatever you want to call it. Its not you that is the problem.

The person who founded the incel movement is a trans women who is pissed it was co-opted. You are swallowing propaganda that child free is immune to this shit.

[–] SoftestSapphic@lemmy.world -1 points 9 months ago (2 children)

None of what you have said has shown you have broken free from that propaganda. Considering you're still pushing it.

[–] pahlimur@lemmy.world 1 points 9 months ago

For clarity, I have 2 kids now. I've seen both sides of this world.

I watched the community start 14 years ago when i was a part of it on reddit. Its falling apart, just like the incel movement.

The common theme between the two is hating women if you are wondering.
