Maybe a different religion, or especially political beliefs seems to be a big deal-breaker. Do you still find it worthwhile to keep them in your life?

I do. I have e.g. Christian Conservative friends, and Atheist Liberal ones, etc. I enjoy each one for what they are. I mean, nobody is perfect! (like me 😁)

Different religious beliefs? Sure, that’s a non-issue. I’m not friends with any wingnuts to begin with.

Politics? Anyone to the right of John McCain, I’ve cut them the fuck off. No MAGA. They’re the enemy and I will never forgive them.

The two extremes seem more similar to each other than most people seem to want to admit - to me anyway. But I respect anyone's opinion to not see it that way.

More to the point, having changed my own beliefs multiple times throughout life, I suppose I just see others who are still on some "other side" as being more like me, or at least past me. We are all just wrong in different ways.

Yes, I get that people are going to die. Even so.
