I've seen headlines over and over recently claiming that the death toll in Gaza from the recent escalation was being reported lower than the actual numbers. So I'm kinda confused.

Is there any reason Hamas would intentionally underreport the death toll? I can't think of anything that would make sense. But I should probably point out that the claim that the actual number is higher did not come from Hamas.

Irregardless, the entire situation is appalling; this doesn't really change that fact.

Indeed, however if it is true then it really does look like mission creep: first only the North but extended all the way South, then the tunnels were more extensive than thought.

Mission creep rather than wanton killing. But it has creeped so far that now we have Trump resort lunacy bandied about.

I absolutely do not agree with your statement. Kinda find it, well, disgusting is a word for it.

This whole thing sounds far more like political posturing by Hamas in a desperate attempt to stay relevant; Israel has confirmed they're taking the Gaza strip, after all. Oh, but it's "Trump's plan" in a pathetic attempt to 'keep their hands clean'.

This doesn't change anything.
