Congratulations, you've found the secret lore. It was said that a cat was the inspiration for Godzilla, as it went around a tiny model city and kept wrecking the place. Even the later addition of barfing Lazer beams had cats coughing up furballs as the core design.

Sadly, furries weren't that scary back then, so a lizard had to be used instead.
