Soulslike - Discussion, News, Memes

This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".

Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.

Basic Lemmy-quette applies. Additionally, since flairs don't exist yet, please do make sure to include a marker to denote what game your post is about in square brackets for clarity's sake. An example could be:

[BB] This enemy is so difficult!

or

[DS1] Anyone struggling with the gargoyles?

I still and always will drink estus, wear my red tearstone ring, and spend souls. Even if I go hollow.

Come to think of it, after several hundred hours, I don't even know what ER's Estus Flask is called. I had to look up their word for souls too, it just never stuck.

Pretty sure the health drink is canonically called the estus flask, and the mana drink is canonically called blue juice.

The blue jar is our houshold name for it.

Yes, this. I'm not in the mood to learn every new term which has essentially the same function

I had only played the original Demon’s Souls PS3 before playing Elden Ring and I still called them Bonfires, souls and estus (even though Demon’s Souls didn’t have estus…)
