Except his dad was a carpenter, so he probably had some excess lumber hookups for building oversized furniture..

Probably not a carpenter. The Greek word tektōn translates as craftsman or builder, not specifically carpenter. And given the relative scarcity of wood in the region, modern scholars think that Joseph would have been a stonemason.
