Man it's wild that even W Bush had more decency than Trump, and he was terrible
Remember "Now watch this drive"? He gets no points for this. He had to be shamed into it.
I remember thinking that 'Murica could not sink any lower
Oh, how I laugh now...
I'm not sure I'm ready for what's coming the next time around. Probably some manosphere influencer way into eugenics. Yay.
You mean the guy running the pentagon?
Probably not, whoever it is will make Hegseth look reasonable and professional in comparison.
I would like to see the minority of decent people get out, burn the rest, and then allow the indigenous Americans to do what they will with the place, with support from the rest of the world and safeguards to stop this shit happening again
It’s crazy that people are pushing memes like he’s the good guy.
This is juxtaposition, not apologia. There is a scale of awful, and Dubya is objectively on the lesser side relative to the Paedophile President, seditious traitor and inarticulate pissboy that he is. There is no section of the constitution that I know of which he hasn't violated. Dubya was many of the things which the traitor-in-chief is, and that makes the juxtaposition all the more apt. If they were supposed to be comparing a good president, they'd have picked FDR. Instead, they picked one who was generally considered one of the worst until that point to show that, even when you think you've scraped the bottom, someone can still manage to break the bottom of the barrel and scrape the mouldering, fetid carcass of a plague rat off the floor below.
Dubya was bad, but Trump literally normalized treason.
As you said, he's essentially betrayed the Constitution in every aspect and yet....
Hurts to say out loud, but treason has been normalized in the United States. And it was conservatives (regressives) and their love for bigotry that did it.
How are they going to go lower than Trump, though? They would have to find someone who physically tortures and kills people in public. Some kind of Mad Max-like supervillain. It's gonna be so retro!
ICE already kills people in public.
He wants to televise an execution.
Trumps successor starts nuking countries around the world. That's probably lower.
He's certainly not the good guy, but it was definitely a wild time when you thought he was the dumbest president we've ever had, with Cheney giving himself no-bid contracts to enrich himself during that war was peak corruption.
The really amazing thing about Trump is that I literally can't find one good thing to say about him. Hitler showed personal bravery in WW1. Stalin was a bank robber. Mao led his troops into battle. No one is saying those guys were anything but monsters, but they had qualities you could respect.
Even comic book villains display some admirable qualities, even if it's only style.
Trump embodies all Seven Deadly Sins, and has invented a few new ones.
Bush's expansion of executive power made someone like trump a "when" not an "if".
What I come back to when compairing Trump and GWB is that GWB at least seemed to respect the office, Trump shows utter contempt towards it.
Bush had a modicum of shame and respect for lawfulness. And I don't think you could accuse him of corruption, despite his many other faults.
There just hasn't been anyone as manifestly unsuitable for the office as Trump. It will be decades before there's any respect given to the Presidency after this.
He's not. But in comparison he is.
This is what fascists do. They lower the bar so far that you have to change your whole perspective to suit them.
