I'm getting fucking sick of this orange fuck lying and causing the United States to fall behind. END THE TARIFFS. If you don't vote you're a part of the problem.

He's a symptom of people not voting. VOTE.

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 1 points 17 hours ago (1 children)

He's a symptom of the fact that people's lives are not made meaningfully better no matter which party is in power nationally.

Our only power is local.

[–] late_pessimistic@slrpnk.net 1 points 8 hours ago (1 children)

They don't get meaningfully better indeed, but one of the two parties can and does make things meaningfully worse

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world -1 points 6 hours ago* (last edited 6 hours ago)

Unfortunately if you're a wage worker, that is patently false.

The only difference is presentation. Red fascist, blue fascist, nicer speeches mean nothing when you're living out of your car.

[–] Bluescluestoothpaste@sh.itjust.works 1 points 18 hours ago (2 children)

half the people voted for him man, sure vote more nothing wrong with that but if people vote for trump that doesn't make anything better either

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 5 points 17 hours ago (2 children)

The problem is that many people have learned that their life isn't meaningfully made better no matter which side they vote for, so yes, a lot of people do not vote because there is effectively no point for them to miss a day of work. (Especially now.)

[–] Dnb@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 5 hours ago (1 children)

Sorry but that's bullshit.

Dems have tried and succeeded to make lives better. When they haven't its because they don't have the seats to do it without Republicans. And because people keep voting in Republicans who have only ever made their lives worse because of this "both sides" there lives are far worse than if they'd kept voting only dem for 50 years.

If you range to move left, only vote for progressives in the primaries and never let the right win a they doubt cast about following laws and norms to break and hurt people

After the last two years, the "they're just too powerless to do anything" excuse is evidently and objectively nonsense.

Voting Blue nationally has moved us toward fascism just as quickly as voting red. If nothing else, Donald has demonstrated aptly that the party in power is never powerless to make quick, lasting change.

[–] Dnb@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 3 hours ago (1 children)

He breaks the law every fucking day

It's easy to break. Illegal fire people and they leave and never come back even when court rules it was illegal. That's time and knowledge lost

Voting red, 3rd party or not voting is what had pushed us farther right.

The system is broken it takes a fraction of voters in smaller red states to control the majority in congress.

Hopefully the razor thin margins from gerrymandering will backfire and well have a massive blue win and finally have some sanity back.

Push for progressive people in the primaries, but never throw away your vote or don't vote against fascism and the right. That is just stupid and costs millions of lives.

Voting red, 3rd party or not voting is what had pushed us farther right.

False, and I predicted it in September 2024, when Kamala Harris' entire campaign was a meme about joy. What's driving people to the right is the fact that they don't have the time, energy, or money to do anything other than work three jobs for 100 hours a week and still can't afford to rent an apartment. Blue MAGA has done just as much as Red MAGA to make this our reality, or have you forgotten how Obama stood by while the NYPD brutalized Occupy and declined to prosecute any of the bankers in 2008? (And instead rewarded them.)

Many of these people are old enough to remember when the world wasn't like this, so not only are their lives empty, but they understand what's been taken from them and are hopeless.

The only people who care are DSA's, and Democrats have fought harder against DSA's than they do against Republicans.

[–] Dnb@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 2 hours ago

Ah yes not voting for harris was a great call thanks for trump again dumbass

You want to know why the dems go after republican voters? Because they actually show up (but still vote for rapists)

If people actually voted for the better of two candidates/ blue no matter who / lesser evil always, we'd never have Republicans and 30 years of them gutting regulations, and lowering quality of life. Instead people get upset dems can fix everything Republicans break in a year and vote them out of power every time.

Not voting, voting 3rd party for someone who won't get more than 10% is what causes this, not those voting dems.

They arent anywhere near perfect, but everyone's lives would be so much better without Bush, Trumps and other republicans in office, especially at local and state levels.

[–] AA5B@lemmy.world 1 points 5 hours ago (2 children)

Bullshit. More of the “same sides” bullshit. If they don’t recognize how much better they have it with one of the parties, it’s all on short attention spans and trolls like this.

Consider ACA as the big one.

  • It was mainly pushed through by one party, and over ten million people got health insurance that didn’t have it before. That’s a big deal.
  • it’s been mainly rejected by the other party until now they effectively ended it, and ten million people lost health insurance. That’s a really big deal
[–] Sordid_Seraphim@lemmy.zip 2 points 3 hours ago* (last edited 3 hours ago)

Mate I am here, I can tell you the blue side is better but god damn do I understand how many times it feels pointless.

We have so many issues in this country that have been caused by bipartisan actions like flock cameras, the prison system, regulation of the rich it can be very easy for someone to look at things and not see how things change.

Needless to say you still need to vote blue but I don't like this shit where we pretend this is happening for no reason. It makes my stomach churn the idea I may very soon have to vote between two transphobes as a trans woman and consequently making the dems go "Oh so being anti-trans is the right position!"

I'll still vote Democrat, "for now."

[–] FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world 1 points 4 hours ago

The ACA is the worst example, as one has to be able to absorb price gouging in order to access our system in the first place.

But sure. Keep gaslighting the poor. Worked great in 2024.

[–] the_mighty_kracken@lemmy.world 1 points 15 hours ago (2 children)

Half of the voters voted for him. More than half of the people sat on their thumbs and didn't bother voting.

[–] Bluescluestoothpaste@sh.itjust.works 3 points 8 hours ago* (last edited 8 hours ago) (1 children)

And you think all those thumb sitters wouldn't vote for trump? At the very least they've shown they dont care and don't have a problem with trump.

[–] the_mighty_kracken@lemmy.world 0 points 3 hours ago

I guess we will never know.

[–] pnwpixel@programming.dev 4 points 14 hours ago

This math seems kinda... worrisome...
