There is no greater treachery than this failure to face up to the climate crisis. How can we now fend off despair?

I wonder who owns that coalmine? I thought it would be BlackRock or JP Morgan et al, but it may be worse than that.

Like, the final owner. It says "Glencore" (a Swiss multinational conglomerate) and "Yancoal" officially (DDG search), but look? Yancoal is owned by "Yankuang Energy Group", which is owned by China.

China wants to mine in Australia, Swiss conglomerate has seconded (I've read the Swiss were masters of laundering money and tax evasion, is that still true?), and here we are.

Do this with similar news stories as you wish, even publicly available information can be interesting. Why doesn't the story just say it was owned by China and Swiss conglomerate? Why do you have to look up owner after owner after owner after owner? The Guardian can look up ownership just like me, yeah?

I bet I know. I think if I could dig deep enough, I'd find that The Guardian is owned by China/Swiss conglomerate, just a few shell companies removed.

I have absolutely NO proof of this. But I do know that if I owned "Yangkuang Coal" and China was my "friend" and the sky is the limit on spending and all of that money is tax free in Switzerland conglomerate... am I being paranoid? Tell me if I'm paranoid and I'm being weird

Sorry for tangent, but the fact that they barely bother to hide it any longer is disturbing to me I wish they'd put a little more effort into coverup
