So long as "home" doesn't mean "house."

Duplexes, townhomes, etc are necessary to limit sprawl. If everyone has a separate home, driveway, and lawn that's a lot of land use.

Duplexes and townhomes aren't that dense, you'd want apartment complexes for most people.

Condos, penthouses, duplexes, quadplexes, and more all increase density versus a building and yard for 1 residence.
