Do you live in the sticks or what? Tickets are $15 and every theater I've been to since COVID has been clean.

You're right. They're including multiple tickets, snacks, etc., methinks. But, also, $15 is too high for the experience offered, IMO.

As of 2025, the average price of a standard movie ticket in the United States is about $11.50, though it varies widely by city, theater, and time of day.
Big cities (New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco): $15–$20 for a standard ticket
Midsize cities (Denver, Dallas, Atlanta): $12–$15
Smaller towns / rural areas: $8–$11
Premium formats (like IMAX, Dolby Cinema, 3D) add extra costs — usually $3–$7 more per ticket.

I'm not sure I agree, to get that same experience at home I'd need a 6-figure purpose-built room with a bluray copy of each movie so $15 once a month isn't too bad.

Most people are happy enough streaming low bitrates on their 55" Walmart TV with a $100 soundbar so it's definitely not an experience for everyone but I'd consider $10/hour is pretty good rate. I value home entertainment closer to $1/hour

Its not just the price of the theater. The cost of living and adulthood responsibilities also make it hard to get to the movies in the first place. I specifically need to get a baby sitter unless my wife or I are staying home too. Its just not in the cards anymore.
