No bigotry, hardline stance. Try not to get too heated when entering into a discussion or debate.
We are here to talk and discuss about one of our passions, not fight or be exposed to hate. Posts or responses that are hateful will be deleted to keep the atmosphere good. If repeatedly violated, not only will the comment be deleted but a ban will be handed out as well. We judge each case individually.
3. No excessive self-promotion
Try to keep it to 10% self-promotion / 90% other stuff in your post history.
This is to prevent people from posting for the sole purpose of promoting their own website or social media account.
4. Stay on-topic; no memes, funny videos, giveaways, reposts, or low-effort posts
This community is mostly for discussion and news. Remember to search for the thing you're submitting before posting to see if it's already been posted.
We want to keep the quality of posts high. Therefore, memes, funny videos, low-effort posts and reposts are not allowed. We prohibit giveaways because we cannot be sure that the person holding the giveaway will actually do what they promise.
5. Mark Spoilers and NSFW
Make sure to mark your stuff or it may be removed.
No one wants to be spoiled. Therefore, always mark spoilers. Similarly mark NSFW, in case anyone is browsing in a public space or at work.
6. No linking to piracy
Don't share it here, there are other places to find it. Discussion of piracy is fine.
We don't want us moderators or the admins of lemmy.world to get in trouble for linking to piracy. Therefore, any link to piracy will be removed. Discussion of it is of course allowed.

Post bungie halo has been like watching a train wreck in slow motion, the series has survived the last 16 years on reputation alone.
Post Halo Bungie hasn't fared much better....
I enjoyed destiny and destiny 2 but you could definitely feel them slipping, especially the fumble where they straight up removed parts of destiny 2.
Tried marathon on a free weekend and it was fine but there are so many other games that are better than fine and doing similar things. The only thing it had going for it was the bungie gunplay which is still as solid as ever.
Them removing stuff from Destiny 2 is why I stopped playing.... Took me awhile to get the expansion and by the time I did they removed the content that expansion added, making it impossible for me to catch up with the lore and wasting my money.
Halo infinite was pretty huge though, wasn't it? Granted one being the only stand out isn't saying much.
Infinite was a solid base that they just didn't do anything with. The campaign felt incomplete and the multiplayer took years to get to the number of features that Halo 3 launched with, but the bones were good. If it had launched in a more complete state and the new campaigns were actually developed, it probably would have been great. However, Microsoft's stubborn insistence on only using contractors and only for six months at a time made the whole concept untenable. For that matter, it's driving the entire company into the ground.
This is what I was thinking. The short term contactor thing is also why the new Forza had the exact same issues during development and launch. Anyone with any real working knowledge is kicked to the curb as they are hitting their stride so no wonder why features are broken or missing and everything feels disconnected. The fact that they are managing 'important' IP with temps shows how much they care and if that isn't changing, the corporate restructure is for nothing.
It was.....ok. it had a good reception but no staying power because it was ok at best. They stopped working on updates too, i think a year into the 10 year project or whatever it was supposed to be.
I haven't beat the story because a well-known bug with a door not opening near the end of a mission fucked me and my co-op friend, and we didn't want to do the last 30 minutes all over again.
There are a lot of bugs in infinite - enemies not spawning (breaking missions), doors, the LOD being the minimum even though I am standing on the ground (so in addition to it looking like crayola ass, physical objects like walls don't align with the visual representation... during a shootout... or a mission...)... and this was a year or so after launch. There are other issues too but it's been a couple years and I'm just angry at this point. Half-assed if I've ever seen it.
I spent thousands of hours in CE and around a thousand in 2, on pc. MCC was exciting, since I finally got to play 3, ODST, and Reach. 4 is awful, and with the state of Infinite (and apparently 5), it's no wonder they are recycling the good games. But it's definitely over, like a washed-up rock band or a one-hit-wonder singer. And it's all Microsoft's fault.
This is why I didn't finish it. Weirdest thing about this bug? It bakes into the save. Seems to be hardware dependent, too, I only saw a few other reports of it and they were all on AMD cards from what I could tell.
I looked it up and asked about it, and the community consensus? "It's not a bug, your hardware is too weak!" Yeah, okay, I'll just go play some fucking RoboCop Rogue City.
Interesting - my friend is on an amd card (don't remember the model, want to say 6700/XT) and I'm on the 7900 XTX.
