Hopefully it’s just written history, maybe men haven’t always treated women shitty…
I always enjoyed thinking we were making progress on this, but between Trump and Hegseth I realize Atwood was right and I’m an idiot.
societal progress is rarely felt by those who start it.
there is progress as much as there is regression.
I'd like to think that the fact that 80 years ago women were expected to "stay home and take care of the kids" and today that's generally not even a choice, that progress is winning.
then again, the only reason why it was allowed to win is because capitalist growth demanded more workers...
Ironically, 80 years ago was immediately after American women had just won WWII (checks nervously to make sure we're not on ml) by going into the factories and making the weapons that the men needed to fulfill their proper role of going out and dying. The women being homemakers shit was a calculated strategy to give their jobs back to the men who survived.
