- This is an English-language community. Comments should be in English. Posts can link to non-English news sources when providing a full-text translation in the post description. Automated translations are fine, as long as they don't overly distort the content.
- No links to misinformation or commercial advertising. When you post outdated/historic articles, add the year of publication to the post title. Infographics must include a source and a year of creation; if possible, also provide a link to the source.

We will use some leeway to decide whether to remove a comment.
If need be, there are also bans: 3 days for lighter offenses, 7 or 14 days for bigger offenses, and permanent bans for people who don't show any willingness to participate productively. If we think the ban reason is obvious, we may not specifically write to you.

His reaction so far: "We will not change course." Imagine being so detached that you don't understand why your party is going under. Even in polls, like 80% of participants say he is damaging his party.
I can't believe that he doesn't understand what his actions are doing, he just doesn't care. I think he is following the FDP-model: once you're in government, pass as many neoliberal bullshit, so your rich buddies can become even richer and reward you with a cushy "job", and don't care about tanking your parties ratings in the process, because when it is in the opposition, your buddies that own the media will "help" the voters forget all your bullshit within 2-3 legislative periods.
Although with Merz the plan might be even more nefarious: Tank the CDU, so the AfD can establish a nice fascist dictatorship and pass as many anti-consumer and anti-worker laws as they want without having to worry about elections.
Neoliberal centrist politics has had it so good for so long. Now that kind of politics is dying rapidly in many places. Fascists are making gains everywhere and only the left has a chance of stopping them.
Merz doesn't want to change anything, yet he wants different results. Insanity.
