Worse situation: being trapped at a family gathering in a rural relative's compound that you are socially obliged to attend without any friend or independent mode of transport. Also, you're expected to serve food to and clean up after creepy uncles who would shamelessly harass you in public.
There's bound to be an animal somewhere to go look at or pat.
I've abandoned families for less
